thirty five: the traitor.

𝐋𝐞𝐨'𝐬 𝐏𝐨𝐯:

My mother insisted that today my family and I must have breakfast together. The only problem is that this is the most awkward breakfast we've ever had.

It's been a week since the announcement at the party. My mom is pissed, my dad has been at the warehouse pretty much every day since, Rocco and Vinny feel betrayed as if they're the ones married to her.

It's all a mess.

My dad hasn't spoken to me and I truly don't know why. It's not like I told her to embarrass our family this way.

I get it though, I would be pissed if my son's wife announced at our annual Halloween party that she's not engaged to someone who's obsessed with her too.

The thing is, I'm not mad.

I'm not mad because she can't even get married, legally, without us getting a divorce first.

And you can't get a divorce unless you've been married for a year.

So, either way, Stella is stuck with me for a year. Whether she's actually in love with Ilya or not.

"Stella-" Vinny says but my mother quickly cuts him off.

"Don't say her name," she says in full "mama bear" mode. His eyes are wide as he throws his arms up in defense.

"Sorry, the woman we shall not speak of," he looks over at my mom for validation and she nods her head. "Excuse my language, but what the fuck was that?"

"Right?" Rocco chimes in. "Like seriously? The Russians? I thought she'd at least fuck me before him."

Little do they know... He was her first time.

"Thank god Luca took the kids to the warehouse," Ally mumbles to herself which causes Layla to snort.

"You're her friend, do you know what the fucks up with her?" Vinny asks her and she opens her mouth but my mother quickly cuts her off.

Oh yeah, Layla and Sienna are still going strong. Probably the best relationship to happen in this family.

"We don't need Layla to tell us that she is just a backstabbing bitch just like her father," she says which causes the whole room to go silent.

"She's not herself," I defend which causes my mom to scoff. "There was clearly something wrong with her. There's more to what's going on than what she's telling us."

"Yeah... I mean she wouldn't marry the person who took out almost half of her family... At least the Stella I know wouldn't," Rocco adds.

"Also, engaged? She can't get married unless you guys get a divorce first," Sienna chimes in.

"Yeah, and you have to sign the divorce papers for that which I doubt you'll do," Vinny adds.

"Yeah, I won't," I turn towards Layla who's too busy eating her breakfast to even care about the conversation that's happening. "Layla, have you spoken to her?"

She pauses as she looks up at me. Her mouth is full as her eyes widen once she notices everyone's eyes on her. She quickly starts chewing and takes a sip of her drink before answering.
