Guys I am warning you before hand so please don't take it seriously, I don't mean to disrespect karn or mahadeva himself
According to the great epic, “Mrityunjay” written by Parampujya Shri Shivaji Sawant, Lord Karn was also known as Mrityunjay.
He was conferred this title by the Supreme Lord, Shiva ji (note the pun) himself.
And, he deserves to be called so, doesn’t he?
According to the Karn Puran, co-authored by Mata Kavita Kane:-
Once, Yamraj challenged both Shri Karn Dev and Lord (earlier) Shiv to an Instagram contest where the one who would get more likes by flaunting his abs in his photo, would be called Mrityunjay, with him as the judge. For this, they would have to come to his place, Yamapuri where Chitragupt, the professional photographer would click their picture, so as to avoid the difference in quality, since Shri Karn, being a sutputra couldn’t even afford a DSLR. (Struggle level - Beyond Ananya Pandey) 😢
Now, Karn Dev being the most handsome man on Earth, kept as cool as Kailash Parvat and was assured of his win.
But, Maaaaaaaaaa Uruvi was extremely worried as she was desperate to see Karn Dev become Mrityunjay. So, she sent a pamphlet reading “SALE - 50% off on all items at Indravati Bazaar” with the daily Kailash Times newspaper at Shiv’s residence. Now, Parvati read the pamphlet and urged Shiv to take her there. Thus, Shiv had to yield to her request and forgot to go to Yamapuri for the contest.
Thus, Karn Dev never even received a competition and won by a ‘fair’ margin.
And, Yamraj declared Shri Karn as “Mrityunjay” and his fabulous picture was also published on the cover page of DevLok magazine.
This was how Shri Shri Karn Dev became the conqueror of Death, “Mrityunjay”.
Jai Shri Karn Dev!
Guyjj, this answer is purely out of sarcasm. There is no intention to disrespect anyone, and who am I to disrespect the Supreme beings themselves?
Mrityunjay is a word made from two words - Mrityu, meaning “death” and jaya, which means “winning”. So, the word as a whole, means “the one who has won over or conquered death”.
How can Karn be a “conqueror of death” if he himself died in the Mahabharat?
Mrityunjay is the Lord Shiv himself, and no one else.
