Margaretha sat on her bed muttering to herself. She regretted it. She regretted it so much. Why didn't she think of Tracy?
"I'm terrible... Tracy is my best friend."
She buried her face in her hands and sighed deeply. A couple of hours passed and she finally left her room, heading to the kitchen. She saw everyone surrounding Tracy as she cried.
"She didn't deserve this. I shouldn't have played hide and seek with her."
"Tracy this isn't your fault. It was just an unfortunate time for her to be there. Don't blame yourself." Luca comforted.
"But-"
"No buts. It's not your fault."
She nodded and left with Luca. The survivors stood quietly before Norton broke the silence.
"So uhh... do you guys wanna have dinner?"
They all agreed and sat at the dining table. William and Anne started cooking and they waited for their meal. Soon, dinner was served and Margaretha fidgeted with her fingers, looking down.
"Is everything alright dear?" Demi asked, brushing her fingers through Margaretha's hair.
"Me? Oh yes, everything is fine."
She picked at her food and ate slowly. Demi looked at her and rested her hand on her shoulder.
"You're lying Margie, I can tell. What's up?"
"No really, it's ok. I'm just tired."
"You sure?"
Margaretha nodded. She started eating again and finished quite quickly. She stood up and left for her room, slamming the door shut. She sat on the floor and crossed her legs, leaning her elbow on her knee. She frowned and closed her eyes.
"I'm so stupid... but I can't tell them."
She moved onto her bed and gritted her teeth, pulling her hair. Eventually, she calmed down and looked into her vanity mirror, holding the sides of the desk. She stared at herself before grinning widely. Her regret faded and dragged her finger against the mirror.
"You did good Margie. Demi doesn't know, Tracy doesn't know. It was deserved..."
A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts and she answered it. Tracy stood outside and asked to come in. Margaretha hesitantly let her inside. They sat on the bed and Tracy sighed.
"You know... it was gonna be Emma's birthday soon. I had a gift prepared for her and everything. But, since you're my best friend, I want you to have it."
She handed Margaretha a small box and she left. Margaretha looked down at the box and her eyebrows drooped. She slowly took the top off and checked inside. She looked inside and frowned. It was one of Emma's favorite flowers made into a small bracelet. She put it on her wrist and left her room, slumping down the hallway. William stopped her and held her shoulder.
"You alright buddy? Is it because of Emma?"
She snapped out of her brief trance and nodded her head.
"Yeah, that..."
William smiled at her and flung his arm around her shoulder, leading her to his room. They stepped inside and Margaretha sat on the bed, confused. William rummaged through his closet and pulled out a floral sweater, throwing it at her. Margaretha held it in her hands and tilted her head.
"What's this?" she asked.
"It's Emma's sweater. She gave it to me for my birthday but to be honest... I don't wear it. So you can have it to remember her."
