The GalacticAnthropic Imperial Armada is a trans-galactic alliance of humanworlds formed in the year 10009 AD in response to the discovery of,and subsequent war with, an alien empire known as the Draggonne – awicked reptilian race who dwell in black holes and have alreadyenslaved half of the Milky-way at the time of first contact withhumanity.
European nations, inconjunction with Russia, Australasia, South Africa, Greater India andJapan, and their respective colonial worlds throughout the Milky-way– totaling 246 planets – have pledged their allegiance to theautocrat admiral Phillp III, in the common cause of protecting humanclaims throughout the galaxy.
Two other humanfactions are also prominent in space and fight their own wars againstthe Draggonne, and any other recently discovered alien race thathappens to try infringing upon human sovereignty. They are thePeoples Republic of Greater China, which represents all Asia saveJapan and some 67 planets, and Am-Space which represents all theAmericas, and 52 planets, ruled by democratic government inWashington. Technically, all three factions are aligned in fightingfor humanity's survival, but the truth is, each serves its ownends.
Once the agreementshad been signed, G.A.I.A's first fleet was formed, simply, byabsorbing one full third of every signatory's world's standingfleet, into a gigantic common fleet ruled by Phillip III, from Earth.
All signatory'sremaining fleets were then ranked in accordance to size, and split intwo, one flotilla tasked with protecting their home world at alltimes, and the other, patrolling planets designated space, andassisting if need be, any neighbor world in trouble, hencegalvanizing lines against the alien threats. It was the task of thefirst fleet, to be the tip of the sword in any major action, incorporating those relevant fleets around it; dependant on whatsector of space the action was being engaged.
The second fleet -Earth's own standing fleet, almost the same size as the first fleet- does in dire situations send a flotilla out of Earth space to helpin important actions. The planet is also heavily guarded by Am-Spaceand China Space, and hence the risk is generally small. Any worryGAIA might have as to its brethren trying to conquer its earthstakes while half of its fleet is away, is tempered by the fact thatthe terra-formed worlds of Mars and Venus are themselves G.A.I.Aworlds, their impressive fleets always at the ready.
