I turned around to see Tate standing there with a sweet and generous smile.
My knees went weak
What was he doing here? Offering to pay for me!
I was trying to fit the pieces in place when Tate stepped forward and pulled me into a hug, " How are you?"
I quickly pulled away, it didn't feel right. What if Jake walked in?!
"Um, fine. It's okay, you don't have to pay for me, I'll just go home now."
"No please, let me talk to you. I swear I'm not the person I once was. I have changed a lot!" He explained. I had noting else to do, I decided to give him a chance, people can change... Right?
I hope so. Tate handed the cashier the money and gave me my stuff. I sat down, and Tate took the seat across from me.
"I'm sorry about everything that I've done to you, I never meant to hurt you, I was lost and confused, I was on drugs and I wasn't myself," He put a hand over mine which made me flinch away. I didn't understand, as I looked into his green eyes, I wanted this to go by fast I needed to talk to Jake."I need to talk to someone right now..." I quickly rushed in, and hurriedly stuffed my jacket into my purse and stood up.
"Oh com' on! Who's more important than me?" He said sarcastically, with a smirk plastered to his face.
"My boyfriend. I'll talk to you later." I said trying to think of an excuse to hurry things along.
Tate pulled me into a hug and I clenched my teeth together, God I hated this. As I started walking outside, Tate ran after me and grabbed me arm, He slid a piece of paper in my hands and smiled at me. He turned and walked off, I got in my car and watched him walk away.
I unfolded the price of paper he slid into my hand.
It had his number written at the top and said "let me know when you can talk, I would love to catch up, sorry for everything in the past, I hope we can start over" -Tate
I sighed and turned the key and the car roared to life.
Tate was leaning against his car texting someone. I sat there and thought why not give him another chance. I really could use somebody to get this all of my mind. I jumped out of my car and called for Tate.
Tate walked towards me and smiled, "what's going on?" He said a smirk on his face.
"Let's talk." I said with a smile on my face.We drove to the park and sat on a bench. This is where I come when I need some alone time... Or where I go with Jake. But he won't be here, I hope. Jake would be so mad if he saw that I was giving Tate a chance to make up for what he'd done to me in the past. Jake would never ever forgive him, but he seems to be so genuine, I don't know. I'm a forgiving person. I think everyone deserves another chance to prove themselves.
"So how have you been? How's your mom?" He asked, his hands intertwined in his lap.
"Jake helps me through a lot, which makes me better, but I can't deal with my mom, she hits me and goes out almost every night so she's not ever there for me." I stated, he looked up at me and saw that there were tears forming in my eyes. He pulled me in, and this time I let him, I can't believe it, but I just needed someone there. But all too soon, I heard the once calm and soothing voice so familiar to neutron to an angry one... Jake. I quickly turned around to see him, his arms crossed, brows furrowed, and a frown spread across his face.
"I promise you this isn't what it looks like Jake!" I swore.
"Whatever Maddy! If you had problems you should've come to me, not him!"
"I'm sorry," I said walking towards him. Jake backed away, and put his hands up. Great! Now jakes mad at me!
"Jake please stop!!"
As he jumped in his car and drove off I bent down and scoop up a handful of grass and watched it fall out of my hands. I let a tear escape awhile. Tate started to walk towards me, "I'm sorry, I never meant for that to happen, I know he means a lot to you. What can I do?"
"It's okay, I know you were just trying to help, thanks for everything I think I'll talk to you later, I'm going to go lay down in my bed." I stated in a monotone voice.
"Okay I'm sorry still, let me know if you need anything." He said
"Alright." I repliedShit. School tomorrow. Great.
