its been two weeks since michael kissed me on the cheek and he hasn't been making any contact with me. i've tried going to his house, but he's either not home or he's busy. i've also tried calling him but he doesn't answer. i cant seem to find him at school either.
i don't know if i should be worried or not, i've caught brief glances of him and he seems fine to me. but thats the problem, he only seems fine. not happy or sad or even angry, just fine.
he is also hanging out with some guy, i'm kind of jealous of him. he is always hanging around with michael, no one else. i cant even help the massive pit of jealousy inside of me when i see him with michael.
maybe that kiss meant nothing? maybe he moved on from me, did he even like me?
wait, i'm straight, i shouldn't be worrying about him. i just feel, protective over him because he's small and fragile, like glass, thats all. i don't like him, only as a friend. yeah, of course.
no. of course i like him as more then a friend, its so obvious. im not that oblivious to my feelings.
i groan and lay my face on my hand as i barely listen to luke talk.
"y'know the guy michael has been hanging around? thats ashton," luke says.
"ashton?" i ask, now paying attention to my friend.
"yeah. he's in my math class. i pretend i don't know what im doing so he helps me," he bites his lip as he looks over to where michael and ashton are sitting on the grass.
"someone's got a crush," i wink and give him a little nudge.
he rolls his eyes and scoffs, "what? no."
"sure sure, luke."
"so, calum, have you been hanging out with michael lately?"
"um, no i haven't. he has been avoiding me for two weeks," i tell him.
"aw, is your little boyfriend ignoring you, calum? you poor baby, must be traumatised by this experience," he tsks. "you should talk to him now."
"what? i-i can't just prance up to him and start a conversation."
"who said anything about prancing? just talk to him, you idiot, before its too late and he takes poor little ashton away from me," he giggles.
i roll my eyes and stand up, "i'll make sure he doesn't steal him away from you, your highness," i bow.
luke laughs, "good, now you mere peasant go talk to michael."
i begin to walk over to michael before i trip on something and almost fall over. i quickly regain my posture and act like that never happened and continue walking over to him. i stop right in front of them and they look at me.
"uh, h-hi, michael," i look down at him and he covers his face with the sleeve of his shirt.
"hi, calum," he whispers, barely audible.
"calum?" i look over at ashton, i think, who grins at me before standing up and holding out his hand.
i look at his hand for a few seconds before realising; he wants to shake hand with me, duh. i lift my hand up from my side and place it in his larger hand. he shake our hands, quite fast and rough.
"im ashton," he grins, dimples showing.
"calum."
i look at michael and give him a small smile.
"michael never shuts up about you," i look up at ashton and raise an eyebrow.
"is that so?" i ask.
he nods, "yeah, all he does is say how good you looked on that day and how sad you looked on others and why you were sad," he sighs dramatically.
i look down at michael who's covering his whole face in, what im guessing is, embarrassment. i can see little gaps where his hands aren't covering and his cheeks are bright red.
i look back at luke, who's eyes are basically bulging out of his head as he stares at ashton. i roll my eyes and return my gaze to michael.
i sit down and pat his leg, "if it makes it any better, luke tells me i don't shut up about you either."
he removes his hands from his eyes and looks at me, "really?"
i nod, "yeah, apparently it's annoying but i don't think so."
he giggles, "ashton talks about luke all the time as well."
i look up at ashton, face bright red, "oh really? luke will love that."
"w-what?" ashton stutters out.
"apparently, luke has a crush on you too."
he mutters an 'oh', before looking over to where luke is sat, who is sneaking peeks at ashton. ashton looks at me and bites his lip, "do you think i could sit with him?" he asks.
"of course, i bet he won't mind."
so, ashton walks over to where luke is sitting and i can see lukes face go red at whatever ashton said to him.
"so," i say.
"im sorry i ignored you, calum," michael says.
"its okay, honestly."
me and michael spend the rest of our lunch time talking about what happened in the small period of two weeks that we didn't communicate. not much happened to either of us, but it was something to talk about before we were ripped of our time together by the ringing of the bell, signalling the end of lunch.
we walk to our lockers together, before splitting ways and going to our last class of the day.
