Chapter 2:

"Ashly O'Connor." The voice of my schools head master Mr. Andrew sounded through the speakers inviting me to the stage to receive my diploma. I got up from my chair and proudly walked towards the enormous black stage as people who had already received theirs stood beside me. I walked nervously trying to not trip in my tall shoes suddenly regretting the decision to wear such grand heals.

"Congratulations Ashly." Mr. Andrews smiled warmly at me shook my hand firmly and handed me my diploma as I stood before him. I smiled and with a trembling hand took the diploma.

"Thank you." I couldn't stop the grin that crept onto my face.

I unsteadily returned to the audience of now high school graduates as more names were called out over the loud speaker. I sat in my seat and crossed my legs.

"Congrats Ashley." Trent, whom was directly behind me, whispered in my ear as the next person was called, I turned to see him smiling at me.

"Thank you." I furrowed my eyebrows accepting the kind words, "You too."

"I guess I'm sorry about what happened the other night." He chuckled still whispering in my ear though had he talked normally the sound of applause would've drowned out his voice.

"What do you mean?" I asked taken aback by his consideration.

"Declan said you were mad when you left." He shrugged.

"I said two words to him my well being is really none of his concern but thank you for the gesture." I spoke in a firm voice not interested in having any more interactions with Declan or any Thompson for that matter after today. Trent had never been part of my life throughout high school it hadn't been until this final few months he had swept in like he had always been there.

"Trent Thompson." The headmasters voice boomed announcing Trent's turn to receive his diploma.

"I'll be right back, chill here for a second." He put a finger up hopping out of his seat and walking ever so casually to the stage. Applause was heard all around as usual all except for a whooping call I heard to my left. Turning my head I immediately regretted it seeing the Thompson family. Mother, daughter and Declan who's eyes were glued to me, his dazzling blue orbs bore into my eyes intensely. It was almost as though he never had to blink the way he looked at me, and I couldn't help myself but stare back as the air seemed to thin and I was at a loss for breath. He truly was a gorgeous man, tall and muscular with just a touch of scruff on his sharp jawline and light brown sloppy hair drooping midway onto his forehead but somehow still seemingly perfect. He was a motion picture dream boat. With his honey tinted skin and lips looking softer than a cloud, twisted into a slick smirk. The way he looked at me nearly set my body on fire, his eyes held intensity and incredible desire causing me to shift in my seat whipping my sweaty palms subtly on my gown. I felt my face flush pink and quickly had to tear my gaze away.

Trent plopped himself back into his seat. "The way you were just looking at him doesn't make it seem like you two are none of one another's concern." He winked picking up the conversation.

"We hardly spoke to set the record straight, I could barely tolerate one of you Thompson boys in a night," I nodded at Trent, "the prospect of two made my blood run cold."

"Ouch." Trent chuckled, "when did I rub you the wrong way?"

"Dead pan humor." I offered feeling some what bad about my previous display of absolute contempt but still speaking with a note of sarcasm that was constant in my voice.

"So what'd you two talk about for the brief second?" Trent accepted it shaking his head with a smirk.

"He asked me my name, grabbed me a few times and some other stuff." I let out a small laugh thinking about the strange night leaving out his sexual assault on me at our very first encounter.
