Chapter 5:
After washing Declan's clothes I entertained myself for a few hours drifting around my enormous house trying to find little ways to busy myself until his royal highness woke up. Getting bothered by feeling exiled from my own bedroom I snuck back in making sure not to disturb the new and improved sleeping beauty resting on my bed, daringly I sat down next to where he lay and plugged ear buds into my phone and listened to music tapping my foot lightly to the beat. No matter how lightly I tapped my foot though or how soft my breath was Declan's slumber was much more delicate than that. He stirred and without a sound awoke as if my life force had given off some sort of sound to violently wake him and in a whirl wind of a second I found myself thrown from the bed.
"What the hell was that?" I bellowed rubbing my sore butt that I had just hit against the hard wood floor.
"Sorry I forgot where I was." He apologized pulling me up from the floor, peering over the side of the bed and with one arm managing to stabilize my whole body.
"Where would you be that you would need to react like that?" I groaned sitting back down on my bed, I could feel a bruise coming on from where I had landed and shot him a nasty look for it.
"Have you met my brother?" He raised an eyebrow at me leaning on his elbow to prop himself up and gaze at me.
"Unfortunately." A small laugh escaped my lips as we fell into silence for a moment before I stood and walked over to my mirror facing the bed to fix my sloppy hair, "you know you're eyes are really an amazing blue." I commented blankly braiding my hair to the side, "I feel like I've seen it somewhere before, I just can't figure it out." I pondered the subject questioningly before meeting his stare in the mirror to be astounded by his eyes glowing brilliantly like I hadn't seen in him. They could be distinctly seen from even a distance, the plasma fire I had seen before was alight in them and I whirled around letting my hair fly free to find a gratified looking Declan staring back at me as though he had been doing nothing but listening to what I had to say the whole time his eyes no longer shinning but a smirk still planted on him.
"What's the matter?" He asked his innocence all too suspicious.
"I'm going to go get your clothes for you." I shook my head shaking off the incident carelessly although I knew I should have asked him about it.
"Can I come?" Declan perked up stretching his arms.
"How many times are you going to ask me questions like that before you realize I truly don't care what you do." I slid of my bed and walked to the door hearing him follow me letting out a deep chuckle as he did, his voice still scratchy from just waking up sending surges of hot flashes through my body. I walked down to the laundry room followed by Declan to find the dryer had finished spinning his clothing. Pulling them out I threw them to him, disappointed to say goodbye to the Declan standing before me elegantly decorated in a slim fitting Calvin Klein suit to entertain once again the Declan wearing khaki shorts and a dusty t shirt. Biting my lip I watched him unbutton the shirt slowly and bring his eyes to meet mine in a heated gaze that lasted in silence for only a moment.
"Enjoying yourself there Miss O'Connor?" A smirk slid onto his mouth as his gaze flicked to my lip which I still had in between my teeth and back to my eyes. Hearing him call me 'Miss. O'Connor' sent visible goosebumps loose on my body and I had to rub my arms quickly to keep him from seeing them.
"Throw my dad's clothes in the basket there when you're done." I let him know ignoring what he had said and hastily scurrying out of the room. I could feel hot pink blush creep onto my cheeks, very un welcomed, and I walked briskly towards the freezer and swung it open trying to cool a sudden hot flash that overwhelmed my body.
