The next morning Daniella wakes up with a huge headache. She looks around seeing that she is in her living room. The girl gets off the couch heading into the kitchen to grab some Ibuprofen when she sees her mother at the table.
"Mmm hey ma." She says trying to act like nothing had happened.
"Nice black eye. Care to explain why Amelia and the boy brought you home half dead?" Diana asked looking at the girl.
"I fell that's all." She said trying to play it off
"Must have been a hard fall."
"Sure was."
"Daniella. Who did this and did you start it?" Daniella's mother looked at her daughter with concern
"No I didn't start it." Daniella replied with a groan sitting down.
"Carmen called. Miguel was also in some pretty rough shape he was asking about you when he go woke up. She also said he was in Karate now behind her back you wouldn't happen to know anything about this would you?"
"No clue."
"Daniella. Don't you dare lie to me. Are you in karate?"
"Yes mom, alright I'm in karate." Daniella sighed out
"Why didn't you tell me?" Diana questioned
"I thought you would freak cause it has to do with violence. Thought you would think I'd turn out as...him." Daniella mumbled the last part looking down
"Daniella you are nothing like your father. Your kind, sweet, caring, you will never be like him." Daniella's mother grabbed her hand looking at her with a smile "But, if you do Karate, you need to understand that you use it for self defense only, is that understood?"
"Yes ma'am."
"Alright now go get ready for school."
The girl went into her room to see her best friend sound asleep.
The girl rolls her eyes walking over to her grabbing a pillow slapping her in the head.
"Jesus Dani!" Amelia said with a groan
"Get up we have school."

The two girls walk into school seeing the boys standing by each other.
"You two got matching eyes even. How cute! The slut and 'Rhea." Kyler laughs walking by the group
"What was that about?" Amelia asked
"He thought me and Miguel were banging in the bathroom..." Daniella replies rolling her eyes
"That is a nasty black eye though." Demetri says looking at her eye
"Thanks." She groaned out right as the first hour bell rang. The other three went their own way leaving Eli and Daniella alone.
"Uh thanks for helping me home last night." Daniella said as they walk into the class
"Yeah of course that's what friends are for!" Eli replies with a smile while the two take their seats.

The group of five all sat in the library in their normal spots. Miguel, Demetri, and Daniella were having a little conversation instead of studying while Amelia and Eli where both studying away.
"So, that's it? No more karate?" Demetri asked
"I guess so." Miguel answered
"It's probably for the best. It was starting to boost your confidence." Demetri said
"What's wrong with that?" Daniella asked.
"Yeah isn't that a good thing?" Miguel also asked
"No. What has confidence ever gotten anybody except a black eye and their backpack thrown in the trash?" Demetri replied
