"Good job, Peralta! She almost outran me earlier."

I was sitting in the back of a van with the men from earlier, along with a woman, who had black hair and an air of intimidation.

"Yeah, I'm surprised you managed to pull it off." The woman spoke, no trace of humor in her voice. "First of all, I'm offended!" He responded in a joking manner.

"Second of all, I wouldn't mess this up. I mean, I've been chasing after her for 8 years!" He looked relieved at this, a smile clear on his face.

Elle let out a slight chuckle at this, handcuffs still wrapped around her wrists.

The officers looked at her in confusion, until one of them spoke out. "Is something funny?" It was the woman, her eyes stern and serious.

"Slightly." Elle looked her directly in the eyes, a glint of humor present along with a smirk on her face.

"Elaborate," The dark-haired woman returned the eye contact, a stern look on her face.

"Do you even know my name?" Elle asked the woman, fully knowing what her answer would be. How could they know her name, if she didn't even know it herself?

No sound came out of the woman's mouth, her eyes searching Elle's as if they could give her the answer. When five minutes had gone by, she looked away in silence.

"Is it Shaniqua?" The detective that had caught her asked, making Elle burst out laughing.

"Is that your guess?" she pulled her cuffed hands towards her eyes, wiping away the tears of laughter.

"Wait, so my intel was wrong?" This made Elle laugh even more.

"I think was based on her reaction." Her laughter faded quickly, as she leaned her head against the wall of the van.

"Aw, man! I thought I had done it this time!" He groaned. "You'd think after chasing her for eight years he'd know her name." The woman said to the taller man.

"It's Peralta, he probably thought he knew her name after a year and decided to stick with it." The man responded with a tint of humor in his voice, letting the man, Peralta, know that he didn't fully mean it.

"Hey! That's rude!" He paused, "I knew her name after 11 months! Not a year, I'm not an amateur." His words were laced with hidden sarcasm, which made Elle assume he had some issues.

"Thought you knew her name, not knew." The woman piped in. "You can't arrest someone without a name." The man added, agreeing with the woman.

"Oh, please! I know her name." He scoffed dramatically, his hand on his chest.
