Here we are. The last chapter!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The day came, they day Adelina's years of research will finally pay off. She couldn't control her excitement as she dressed herself.
"Flavia! Flavia, come on."
Adelina began shaking her.
"Adelina, fuck off."
"Flavia, you said. Come on!"
Flavia groaned and sat up. She looked out the window.
"Adelina, it's still dark!"
"Not for long. We can't steal the remains in the light, can we?"
Flavia groaned and got out of bed.
"Go outside while I get changed. I'll be out soon."
"Come on, we must remain dead silent."
They cunningly made their way outside, avoiding most cameras.
"I left these out here yesterday."
Carrier bags.
"They better not damage them."
"They won't. Come on, let's work quickly."
They worked together taking you and your family off your stand that you've laid on for many years.
"Get the bags."
One down, five more. Surprisingly, they were all easy to take off. After all were put in the bags, they began their journey back to the castle.
"How do we know where we're going?" Flavia asked. Adelina showed her the map in her hands.
"Adelina, I'm having second thoughts on this."
"Too late to turn back now, Flav."
"Flav?"
"Yeah, sorry."
They giggle.
"How long do you think this will take? It's almost daylight!"
"Good. I know we'd be slow so we left earlier to reach the castle as the sun rises."
"So, you're saying I could have had a another few minutes in bed?"
"If you were a quick walker, yeah. Besides, I knew the wait of these women would slow us down."
"I'm a quick walker!"
Adelina looked at Flavia with a raised eyebrow. Flavia playfully slapped her shoulder.
"We're almost there, Flavia. We're almost at the top."
The Megamycete's power within the village soil began to strengthen as your remains approached. A connection happened many years ago, the year you and Alcina were taken from mortality, to be exact. The connection still remains, dead or not. Flavia and Adelina were scared, scared of the unknown. What if it doesn't work? What if they attack them?
To be honest, Flavia didn't even know if it would work, it's a confident guess but the little voice in her head kept telling her it wouldn't. Flavia even considered the morality of bring the Dimitrescu family back. What if they want to remain dead? What if, what if.
"Where will we bring them?" Flavia asked. Adelina scanned the area. A cave, emitting a dull red light.
"There." Adelina replied, walking straight for it. The connection increased every step they took.
"Alcina, I feel something... What's going on?"
"Me too, Y/N... It's been a while since I've felt anything."
The daughters approach.
"Mum, Mother? We feel stuff."
"Lay them here... Oh please work..."
They both laid the family adjacent to each other.
All were knocked to the ground and they slowly sank into the unknown.
Black mould engulfed the family.
"Was that supposed to happen?!" Flavia asked, backing up.
"Well, no-"
The mould takes the women down into the soil.
"Oh shit."
Flavia and Adelina back up and watch. The mould moved like a group of silent snakes. Suddenly, the mould began to separate and form into human like shapes, two obviously taller and bigger and then four others. Behind them, the sound of wood and stone filled the air. Looking out the entrance of the cave, the castle slowly built up again.
"Do you see this, or am I dreaming?"
"I see exactly what you see."
They looked back behind them. The mould began to seep off the human shapes. The mould revealed the six faces of the Dimitrescu family and continued revealing the rest of them. Their once stained white dresses were now sparkling white and the daughters dresses, once fully black, was now decorated with white sewn in patterns. Each fell to their knees and slowly woke from their years long sleep. Flavia and Adelina were paralysed with shock. You opened your eyes, seeing pale hands ahead of you. You took a breath of the air and looked beside you. Your family?
"Alcina..."
"Wh-"
Flavia put a hand over Adelina's mouth.
"Alcina, wake up."
Alcina opened her vanilla brown eyes and met Y/N's E/C ones.
"Y/N? What..."
"Mother, Mum?"
Turning to your daughters, you smile.
"My girls..."
"Mum, where are we?" Sadie asked. Flavia and Adelina began to back off but Alcina's met theirs.
"We're not alone." Said Alcina. All eyes on Flavia and Adelina. Flavia took her hand off Adelina's face.
"Ehm, h-hey. We mean no harm." She said, raising her hands. Zadie’s eyes scanned Adelina.
"You look like Alexander..."
"I'm a descendant. We only want to help."
"What about the other?"
"She's part of your family."
You looked at Flavia, studying her. Some features were familiar... It went silent and the whole family rose to their feet. No dirt stuck to them.
"You brought us back, why?" Alcina asked.
"I wanted to get your true story... Your stories are famous. The whole world knows your names."
In the distance, Flavia and Adelina's names were heard distantly.
"Is that?" Adelina asked.
"They must have noticed we were gone."
"I forgot Dad is up early today..."
"Adelina! We're dead now!"
"We'll be fine, we better see them..."
They left the cave, seeing the whole group walking through the ruins. Their mothers run over.
"Oh girls, what the hell were you two doing?!"
"We're fine, mum!" Flavia replied. Abel approached Adelina.
"Where are the remains? Do you know?"
Adelina gulped and nodded. Behind them, you and your family appear.
The whole group fall back and fall silent.
"They're alive?!" Abel asked.
"Who are you all?" Sadie asked, standing beside you.
"Guys, this is the Andrei, Dimitrescu, L/N and Net families."
Net, a surname you haven't heard in a long time... Your family, the Net family... You've gotten so used to L/N.
"Everyone else, say hello to Y/N, Alcina and their daughters, Sadie, Bela, Cassandra and Daniela."
"So that's who I'm named after..."
"Sorry, what?" Alcina asked.
"My mum was named after you." Flavia replied. Alcina looked at the other Alcina with a look of discust.
"Adelina, how did they get back to this? What did you do?" Zina asked.
"I don't know, it did it itself..."
"And the castle?"
That caught your attention. You looked in the direction of the castle.
"It's back..."
You poked Alcina's shoulder and she turned to look at the castle. You looked back down at Adelina, who continued talking to her father and mother.
"Girl, why did you do this?"
Adelina turned and looked at you.
"Because I believe you all were happy there." She replied, then whispered, "I need you for the book I'm writing."
You six escaped up to the castle. Walking back in, memories flooded back. You took Alcina's hand and gulped.
"Here we are again..."
"That girl..."
You looked at Alcina.
"Are you happy to be back?"
Alcina sighed and looked at her family.
"Yes, very much so."
That swan, taken in so long ago was connected to you. Unaware to you, your wings were waiting to be summoned in your moments of need, but now that all threats were gone, your wings weren't needed... Unless you wanted a fly around. You were happy on the ground with Alcina and your children. Adelina visited and got what she needed for her book. All the technology around made you uneasy but also curious. She took a picture of your family then left. That whole process was interesting but as soon as she left, they were back to normality.
Now, your family will rule forever.
Heck yeah.
