Bridget and Kimberly came round early on Saturday. Bridget already had some plan, but she cancelled them for me anyway, because these ones were more important obviously! I got rid of my mum as soon as possible. I had to complain for a while before she left her credit card for me to order pizza later on. I had a spending limit, but me and her both knew that there wasn’t exactly going to be a consequence if I went over it so what did it matter? I’d put the money back eventually anyways.

We spent an hour setting up, which basically meant removing everything out of sight that I liked or was breakable. The cleaner had already been round and tidyed up the house for the most part anyway and I only needed to put some drinks and cups out so that people could help themselves. Ot was important to me that this party was perfect, that it helped to reassert my reputation.  This party had to be amazing. Had to be big. People had to have fun. And the only way to ensure everyone was fun was to have alcohol. Lots of it. Meredith had said to me that there was supposed to be a strict no drinking rule, but we were 16 for goodness sake, what did she expect that we’d sit in a circle and play pass the parcel as well? Sometimes she is so medieval.

When we were done we went up to my dressing room to get ready for my party. My dressing room was big and expensive, I begged my mum for weeks to get one of the bedrooms converted and she finally gave in, and now I seriously do not understand how I survived without one. To be honest, I practically need 2 at the rate I buy clothes at. I had a new beautiful hot pink dress that was tight and clung to my best parts well. With my legs out and a teeny bit of cleavage showing I looked hot. I applied my make up dramatically, smokey cat eye look and all and left my hair loose and falling down my back. I put on some of my highest heels and took a good look in the mirror. I looked great but that wouldn’t be great wouldn’t be good enough if the attention wasn’t on me. Kimberly still didn’t have an outfit, (seriously what had she been doing all week?!) so I sent her to my mum’s wardrobe to have a look. I sometimes worried my mum was prettier than me, seeing as she had me at 15, there wasn’t a big age gap between us.

Kimberly came back in, in one of my mum’s favourite dresses. It was the tiniest bit to big on me but fitted her perfectly. It was tightly fitted and a pale blue colour, strapless and gorgeous in everyway Kimberly looked AMAZING in it, but I couldn’t have her looking prettier than me at my own party.  So there was absolutely no way on this planet, she was going to be wearing that. I smiled at her and looked her over carefully before pulling a carefully rehearsed concerned face.

“I think it’s a little bit tight around your hips. Maybe you should try a different one?” I suggested, in my sugary sweet, but oh-so-fake voice. Her face fell, so I flashed her my biggest Hollywood grin in an encouraging way. She came back in a floaty multi-coloured dress which looked nice on her but not better than I looked.  “Wow, that looks much better, now sit down over there so I can do your make-up. Bridge, could you get the beer out of the fridge now that you’re ready?”

“Erm, Honor what rest of the beer?” her already wide eyes widened more as she pulled her face into a worried, concerned look. Her eyebrows knitting together. I looked at Kimberly she had the same desperate look on her face too. I gave a humourless cold laugh, before shaking my head.

“Omg Bridget what the hell is wrong with you? Honestly, it’s like you’re stupid or something. One minute you’re telling me that you feel stupid and the next you are trying to ruin my party! Great job, seriously!” I looked her full in the face, snorted then turned away furiously.

“but Honor, you just said to get some beer, you never exactly specified how much –“ Bridget began

“Well, I gave you Meredith’s credit card and said get beer for the party, I thought it was pretty much obvious how much we were going to need?” I spoke quietly, but I was livid. And she knew that.

“I’m sorry It was stupid –“ Bridget started.

“You’re right it was, so why are you still here?”

She looked up at me scared and worried, thinking I had just uninvited her.

“I mean, why aren’t you in the car going to ask your brother to buy more?”

I saw a glimmer of relief appear on her face and she rushed off as I called out to her to grab some crisps while she was at it.

I left Kimberly upstairs to finish her make-up, as I was in such a bad mood and sneaked myself a sandwich so that I wouldn’t pig out on pizza later. I called up the pizza place and told them to bring the pizzas at about 10. I checked my bikini was clean so that we could all jump in the pool later. Mum had said we shouldn’t but she wasn’t going to be here so who cares?

Bridget arrived back with the drink and this time, I was mildly impressed she had gathered a lot but she was not in a happy mood.

“Honor, I nearly got pulled over by the police!” she was panting slightly and half threw the bottles on to the counter.

“Do you still have the stuff?” She nodded. “well then, there’s no harm done! Well done on getting all that I’m pretty impressed!”

I turned back but clearly that wasn’t the end of it.

“Honor! Honor, omigod, I could have gotten arrested, don’t you even care?”

“But you weren’t so…”

“So, nothing, Honor, I nearly got caught with all this liquor and illegal underage possesson of alcohol. And I don’t even drink!”

I sighed, why wasn’t she sharing this story as a victory, rather than painting herself a sob story, like she was trying to get my sympathy?

“Okay, Bridget you have got calm the heck down and stop being such a buzz killer. Because you are really annoying me now!”

“It could have been like a really huge deal!” She was still watching me, why couldn’t she just back the heck down on this.

“Well, it’s not is it? Gosh, Bridget, chill!”

She squinted her eyes at me, but obviously decided not to push it any further than necessary. “Fine but I am not ever doing that again for you!”

“Well, don’t worry you won’t have to do anything for my next party. You don’t really even have to show up.” I turned away irritated as heck, that should show her I thought to myself.

First arrived the football team, who had bought twister. Perfect, I thought, I can show off at the same time as having a laugh. I offered them some beer and got ready to parrrty. I could show them my perfect arch back into a crab. I snaked my legs and twisted my body into all unlikely positions and won of course. Everyone was up and talking and having a laugh. Not sitting down, bored out of their minds, staying as long as possible.  This was one of the main reasons I had never had birthday parties when I was younger, not that anybody would of come anyway.

I pretended to drink all night, they thought I was cool for managing to drink so much and stay pretty much sober, really I had just been tipping the bottle up to my lips and pretending to glug it down.

Everyone listened to what I had to say and were excited when I suggested a plan. They complimented me on my looks and I knew they wanted to look how I did. Obviously I got a lot of attention from the guys but I preferred to flirt with them all rather than choose one. When I pulled off my dress revealing my sleek black bikini and toned body and dived into my pool perfectly everyone- ok mainly they guys- watched and eventually dived in after me.

After a while I even started to enjoy the dirty looks I was getting from other girls, it meant they were jealous and wishing that they had thought to bring a bathing suit and make up that wouldn’t wipe straight of if they jumped in the pool. They wanted to be me and that was the way liked it.  At about 10 the doorbell went and I ran to the door in my bikini and a little sheer sarong around my hips, when I opened the door I expected to be receiving pizzas from the delivery guy, not a cute smile from a familiar face. I couldn’t believe the face that was looking back at me…
