“MEREDITH! MERREEE! Where are you?”

“What is it, Honor?”

“I’m gonna need the house Saturday for a party, ok?”

“Well, I was hoping we could maybe spend this Saturday night together ?”

“But I don’t want to, and I’ve already told people about the party.” Why does she always have to try so hard? I don’t want to spend anytime with her, I don’t need her anymore. Why doesn’t she understand? I want to do my own thing and have a party to boost my popularity. Everyone loves my parties, I have the best. We’re rich and can afford it. Nobody else’s parents put up a fight like mine do.

“Oh. But what about that film, you couldn’t see with your friends, I was thinking maybe we could go see that?” She still seemed hopeful as though I was going to turn around and be like, yeah sure I’ll cancel all my plans for you. Yeah right, keep dreaming Meredith.

“I don’t know what film you’re talking about, but I just told you, Meredith that I’ve already got plans!”  I desperately wanted to see that film but there was no way I was seeing it with her and losing this argument. I needed that party.  I would just buy the film on DVD when it came out anyway so why waste the money on that.

“Oh well ok then.” Her face fell. I felt a twinge of sadness but I quickly dismissed it. I knew it also annoyed her that I called her Meredith and not mum, but since I didn’t feel like she acted like one and she’d rather go without the argument that she knew full well she’d lose, she accepted it for what it is. I didn’t have time to worry about her feelings, I had a party to plan. I ran up to my room, and picked up my cell, I called Kimberly and Bridget and told them to get there scrawny arses over to mine ASAP. I had two days until this party and it had to be my best one yet otherwise my rep would be on the line and I was NOT letting that happen.

Kimberly and Bridget were over as soon as possible. I grabbed some snacks and cola, diet of course, and dragged them up to my room.  Literally as soon as they sat down, I was right on it with the party planning.

“Right Bridget, how quickly can you tell everybody about my party?” I flashed her my biggest, cheesiest, million-dollar grin.

“What party?” She replied, feigning innocence. Bridget could be dumb but she wasn’t an idiot.

“The one we’re having on Saturday.” Bridget squealed with excitement. Bridget was definetly a party animal. She knew everyone and could get people talking about my party in a matter of minutes. I could guarantee that everyone would be talking about It in under an hour.

I set Kimberly to work finding outfits for us all, that was always a hard job. But nothing short of fabulous was I going to be wearing for MY party. She knew that too and that I didn’t have a budget as too how much I would pay, or should I say Meredith would pay, to get something good and keep me happy.

I didn’t really have a job I guess, just general party things.

“Come round mine early on Saturday, so we can set up. We can get ready at mine because I have the best make-up and accessories. I mean Kimberly isn’t most of yours from like the drug store?” I pulled a face, mocking her. It was funny really how she had once been queen bee. But with her tacky unnatural highlights that I was constantly persuading her to get rid of and her cheap make up, I don’t know how she had survived or secured that role.

“Errrr….yeah.” Kimberly turned red and stared down at the screen. I was surprised she didn’t say anything back she was normally a little cockier than that, clearly she had realised that I ws speaking to the truth. I didn’t apologise, even though she looked a little upset because I was just telling her how it is. “Hey, Honor, what do you think of this dress for me?”

“Really Kim?! I think it would cling to you badly especially round your tummy.” I was lying. The dress was beautiful and it would look amazing on her. Tight around the boobs and waist, and hitting just the right spot above her knee, too be sexy yet not slutty. Also the perfect colour for her complexion and hair colour. But sometimes I thought Kimberly looked better than me and there was no way I was letting her have the attention at my party. I don’t share.

Kimberly seemed a little disheartened but continued quietly, I wondered whether I should apologise, but decided that the moment had passed and there was no point bringing it up now. If she cared surely she should bring it up, not me? That is the attitude i guess that has left me where i am today.
