"nina! for merlin's sake, woman, we're going to miss breakfast. wake up!"
the brunette groaned in her sleep and covered the sheets over her head "five more minutes."
"i'll give you five minutes worth of the freaking cruciatus curse if you don't wake the heck up!" gina threatened "i am not missing my scrambled eggs on the first day of school!"
nina sighed as she finally gave in, slowly sitting up and wiping her eyes tiredly, yawning "alright, alright, i'm up. no need to get moody."
she had looked over to the two other beds (not including gina's) which were taken up by the two other slytherin girls whom they shared a dorm with but they were empty.
"kourt and allegra went down already." gina answered nina's thoughts "now hurry up! i'm hungry."
"when are you not," nina breathed as she got out of her bed and got herself ready in the bathroom, coming out about ten minutes later with her slytherin robes on and her hair tied back in a low ponytail.
as she made her way down staircase into the slytherin common room, gina was pleased with her friends quickness and they both walked out of the entrance, making their way up from the dungeons to the great hall for breakfast.
"are you sure you don't want to try out for the team this year?" gina asked, sitting at the table as she happily served herself "avery graduated last year so we're down a chaser."
nina sighed "we've already been through this gina. i don't play quidditch."
"oh, rubbish!" kourtney exclaimed suddenly "you know how to work both a wand and a broom-"
carlos snorted a laugh, causing for nina to roll her eyes
"carlos!" she scolded
"what?? sue me for having a normal mind!" he exclaimed defensively
gina and kourtney chuckled while nina looked around, noticing that ej wasn't here and she kept her worries tame, not wanting to cloud her mind anymore.
professor slughorn walked down the hall beside the slytherin table, passing down the students' class schedules and nina received hers, she quickly skimmed it and nodded in approval
"what've you guys got first?"
"ugh, i have herbology." gina groaned, dropping her fork onto her plate
"herbology is actually really fascinating gi," kourtney defended — it being her favorite subject of course. "with all the different sorts of plants and how it correlates to potions and-"
gina faked a snore, causing for nina to shake her head with a light smile
"carlos, do you have potions first thing?" nina asked
"yup." carlos nodded "and slughorn gave me ej's schedule to give to him and it looks like he has it first too."
"what do i have first?"
the four all looked up to see the raven-haired boy arriving towards them, sitting down and taking just a single piece of toast to bite into
"potions," nina answered, handing him the schedule
carlos rolled his eyes in realization as he read his schedule through once more "great, potions with the gryffindors this year again."
ej stayed quiet, clenching his jaw as he glanced at the gryffindor table further away before looking back down at his plate. nina, seeing how tense he got, chose to quickly divert the topic.
"how are you going to get through eight newts with prefect duties, kourt?"
"oh, i'll manage." kourtney said determinedly, closing her book "just a little more studying during the frees is all. gi, we should go."
"dooon't make me go." gina whined as the girl grabbed her friend by the arm and dragged her out of the hall to the greenhouses outside of the castle.
nina checked her watch and hummed "yeah, we should get going too, we have to go all the way back down to the dungeons."
"sometimes i really hate that you're such a goody like kourt when it comes to classes," carlos mumbled as him, nina and ej all made their way out of the great hall.
"you know these next two years are pretty important. regardless of—" she cut her sentence short when noticing ej giving her a warning glare
"regardless of what?" carlos asked cluelessly
"um...nothing." nina shook off, briskly shaking her head as she fastened her pace down the hallway to get to the potions classroom as quick as possible.
