Chan’s POV

My breath caught in my throat at JaeKyung’s words. Elisa. Of course, they knew. I shouldn’t have been surprised. They always had ways of digging up dirt, of figuring out exactly where to hit you where it hurt the most. But to bring her into this? My blood boiled.

“Leave her out of this,” I snarled, stepping forward, my fists clenching at my sides. Changbin and Minho exchanged tense glances, both of them tensed, ready for a fight.

JaeKyung’s smirk widened, relishing the reaction. “Oh, but how can we? You see, she’s become quite... important to you, hasn’t she? And now that we know she’s human, that makes her even more... vulnerable.”

Gwi chuckled darkly, his eyes glinting with malice. “It would be a shame if something happened to her, wouldn’t it, Chan?”

I fought to keep my composure. The thought of them laying a hand on Elisa made my stomach churn with rage. But I couldn’t lose control. Not here. Not now. This wasn’t the place for a brawl. Not yet.

“I’m warning you,” I said, my voice low and full of venom. “If you touch her, you won’t live to regret it.”

JaeKyung raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by my threat. “Oh, is that so? But the way I see it, you don’t have much of a choice. Either you give us what we want the jewel and the territory or we take it by force. And trust me, we’re more than willing to spill a little blood if necessary.”

Minho stepped forward, his face hard as stone. “We’re not giving you anything. This territory is ours, and so is the jewel. You can try to take it, but you’ll lose everything in the process.”

Gwi snorted. “Bold words for a bunch of runaways.”

I felt Changbin’s hand on my shoulder, steadying me. He was always the one to keep his cool in these situations, but I could feel the tension radiating off him too.

“We didn’t come here to fight,” I said through gritted teeth, trying to reel the situation back in. “We came to negotiate.”

JaeKyung’s smirk never wavered. “And we’re negotiating. Either you hand over what we want, or we’ll start by taking your precious human. It’s really quite simple.”

I was cornered. I knew that if I didn’t agree, they’d go after Elisa. And she had no idea what was really going on she didn’t know who we were or what we were capable of. She was in danger just by being near me, and now, because of these bastards, that danger had multiplied.

But giving up the jewel and the territory? That wasn’t an option either. The jewel was too powerful. In the wrong hands, it could destroy everything, and JaeKyung’s hands were about as wrong as they came.

My mind raced, trying to come up with a plan. I couldn’t let them get what they wanted. But I couldn’t let them hurt Elisa either.

Before I could speak again, JaeKyung’s phone buzzed, and he glanced at the screen. His smirk widened. “Looks like time’s up, Chan. You’ve got until tomorrow to make a decision. After that... well, let’s just say, you’ll be seeing your little human friend very soon. But not in the way you’d like.”

With that, he and his crew turned and walked away, leaving the tension hanging thick in the air.

I stood there, fists clenched, seething with rage. Minho stepped beside me, his expression grim. “What do we do now?”

“We protect her,” I said, my voice hard as steel. “No matter what.”
