3rd person POV

Percy and Annabeth were enjoying a picnic. Having a break from all the quests and wars. But as fate would have it life never calms down for demigods. Twin black dragons emerged from the trees.

"Time to go to work" Percy told his wise girl.

"We don't get paid for killing monsters Percy." Annabeth said rolling her eyes.

"Yes we do. We get paid by knowing that we'll live for another hour." Percy joked as he ran forward. Brandishing Riptide he attacked the first monster. He slashed and hacked but it didn't get through the monsters scales. Percy stopped for a second to see Annabeth not having any more luck then him. The dragon lunged at him and he dodged it. Mostly. Its teeth managed to get a bite on his shoulder. Percy winced, he was in pain but the monster was open now. He lifted Riptide and dug it into the monster's eye. The dragon roared and let him go. The bite had a black liquid oozing from it. He'd have to deal with poison later the dragon had his sword. Percy looked at it as it slowly dissolved into golden dust instead of bursting like they usually did. The dragon glared at him. Then it smiled and spoke to him.

"You're not going to be fighting usss for long sssson of Possseidon. The infection will ssspread and desstroy you from the insside out. You will become one of usss. Your godly blood may delay it but before long you will change. You will become a monssster." It left in a puff of golden dust leaving Percy to mull over what it had said. Annabeth walked over to him, she hadn't gotten anything worse then a few scratches.

"What did it say?" She asked him.

"Nothing just that I should get this bite checked out for poison" Percy showed her his shoulder.

"Yeah, you should." Annabeth and Percy made their way back to camp. Once Percy and Annabeth made it to Half-Blood Hill Peleus crawled towards them.

"Hey Peleus" Annabeth and Percy said.

"Welcome back" Peleus said and he walked back to curl around Thalia's tree. Percy was surprised. Annabeth just continued as though nothing unusual had happened. Percy looked at her. She seemed to be debating something by the look in her eyes.

"Why do we talk to Peleus? He's just a dragon." Annabeth said surprising Percy by her tone.

"Because we should. It's good to treat him like family." Percy defended. Suddenly he was surprised by his own tone. He was angry with her. He didn't know why just that he was.

"Why? You don't like him? You're scared of him betraying Camp? He's better then most campers are." Percy growled.

"No it's just that we can't understand him." Annabeth said looking at Percy shocked. Percy was still mad, otherwise he wouldn't have gone as far as he did.

"You're the smart one. Find some way to understand him." Annabeth glared at Percy.

"Fine seaweed brain. I will." She stomped off to her cabin. Leaving Percy to himself. 'Why did I get so angry? I know Peleus is like family but Annabeth has a point.' Percy thought about possible reasons for his anger and he remembered what the dragon had said. 'It had said I'd change but how?' Percy was pulled from his thoughts by a horn being blown to signify dinner. Percy walked over to his table and sat with Tyson who had come to camp for a little break and to spend time with Percy and Ella. Tyson looked at Percy worried.

"Brother you smell different" he told Percy.

"Really? How?" Percy was scared about his answer.

"You smell like.... like..." Tyson's eye widened as he smelled. "A monster" Percy's heart stopped. He really was changing. And at this pace he would be a monster before long.

"You know I'd never hurt you right?" Percy asked looking at Tyson guiltily.

"You're my brother. You wouldn't hurt me. You would never." Tyson seemed to be trying to reassure himself more then Percy.

"Good you know." Percy relaxed a bit not learning his lesson from before hand.

"Know what?" A voice beside him said. Percy looked at who it was and he didn't recognize it.

"Who are you?" He asked curiously

"I'm the camps most powerful demigod." The guy seemed to puff out his chest with his ego.

"Cool. Nice to meet you wannabe." Percy said as he started to eat the food he had been brought.

"What'd you call me punk?"

"Wannabe, why?"

"I ain't no wannabe. I'm a son of Zeus."

"Cool. Nice to see you Mini-Zeus" Percy said coolly.

"Who's your dad?"

"I'm brothers with a cyclops. Take a wild guess." Percy said laying on the sarcasm thick enough you could almost feel the weight.

"You really are a seaweed brain." the guy said smugly. Percy stopped eating. He may be dense but he wasn't a seaweed brain. Only Annabeth could call him that.

"What? Did I hit a nerve?" Mini-Zeus said.

"Yes one reserved for someone else." Percy said standing up. "So what's your problem? Your ego not getting puffed up because no one's bowing? Sorry but that doesn't happen much." The campers had been watching the exchange and one shouted out "Shots fired!" Mini-Zeus glared at whoever had said it.

"I have a reason to be the way I am."

"Nice, you were a spoiled brat before you got here." Percy said.

"I wasn't. I just had wealthy parents is all. At least my parents could afford to raise me." Percy got right up close to the Mini-Zeus.

"I'm a better person because of what I went through with my family. You were given everything. I've given everything I had since I was twelve. If it weren't for me you would be dead twice." Percy said snarling.

"Yeah? How?" Mini-Zeus crossed his arms skeptical.

"I saved your dad's behind in wars and quests more times then I can count" Percy said smiling.

"And I'm gonna save your girlfriend from having to break up with you. Your girlfriend doesn't love you anymore. She was going to break this to you later but why wait?" Annabeth watched on with horror. Percy was set off by this comment from Mini-Zeus. He was furious by the fact. He felt his shoulder start to burn and the burning spread. He felt his skin prickle. He wanted to rip this Mini-Zeus to ribbons. But instead he ran off growling. Percy didn't know where all this rage was coming from just that he had it. He stopped and ground a boulder to a pile of dust and dead tree to splinters. He raged on but stopped once his shoulder started to flare with pain. He scratched at it and found that it was healed. He was so absorbed by how it had healed that he didn't notice that his skin had sections now. He noticed that while he examined his skin. He had grown scales. In a panic he noticed them become more and more prominent. He felt something push from his spine, lengthening it. He grew wings and a snout to match, all covered in blue scales. Percy hissed and writhed in pain as he grew to the size of Zeus' Fist, every time he opened his mouth anyone could see his teeth change into fangs and his tongue becoming forked. The rock formation not his real fist. Percy was changing at an agonizingly slow speed, but once he finished he sat to regain some strength. Percy looked himself over to see that he had spines all over. His leathery wings tucked to his sides instinctively. He even had a fin going from his head down to the tip of his tail where he had another fin, he had a pair of gills on his neck too even if he wouldn't need them. Everything but his eye colour had changed. Percy didn't know what to do. Throw another war at him and he'd know exactly what he needed to do but change his way of life and he's completely lost. Percy heard a twig snap and Tyson walked by him not seeing him but calling his name.

"Percy? Brother? Where are you?" Percy took a step forward but he didn't go farther. Would Tyson recognize him? His smell at least? There was only one way to find out and Percy didn't want to risk it. He let Tyson walk by and he left camp not bothering with a note because he couldn't hold a pencil anyway.

Chapter one up. The picture is a picture of dragon-Percy from sandara on deviantart. Just scale it down a lot. Books are fun to write. I really need a better hobby.
