shay was bursting with excitement to take me out for valentine's day. she had it all planned out, to go to the prettiest flower garden and have a picnic there.

she wore a cream colored cardigan, jeans, her favorite shoes, and her hair tied in a pink ribbon.

when we got there we sat down at our picnic spot, she giggled as she looked into my eyes.

"what?" i asked with a small chuckle.

"here." she said, grabbing a pink bag from beside her and handing it to me.

"thank you m'lady." i said, grabbing the bag from her grasp.

i opened it, grabbing a card.

"read it out loud." she said with a big smile.

"alright." i said, opening the card.

"dear y/n, the love of my life. you have been with me every step of the way, through highs and lows, ups and downs, i've learned so much from you, and i could be around you every single second of the day, when we're apart i can never forget our nightly phone calls that last for hours, our gifts we send to each other, or the dumb pictures we snap to each other. you're the sweetest person ever and you're so beautiful inside and out. i cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with you, i love you very much. love, shay." i read, my heart beating out of chest seeing the word 'love'. shay always said that 'love' was a strong word and that she wouldn't ever use it unless she was most certainly sure she actually loved the person.

i looked up at her, my lips turning upward.

"oh my god shay, i love you too." i said, leaning towards her to hug her tightly.

we pulled out of the hug and she pulled my face close to her, kissing me softly, and then pulling away.

"there's more!" she said.

i reached into the bag, chocolates, perfume, and the prettiest bracelet with our initials engraved in it with a heart.

"thank you so much shay." i said.

i reached beside me, grabbing a wrapped box.

"i know you love unwrapping things." i said, handing her the box.

she grabbed it from me, smiling at me, i nodded at her and she began to rip the wrapping paper off the box.

she opened the box, in it was a sweatshirt that read 'different ways to say i love you'. on the back was more than 100 ways.

there was a necklace with our names engraved in it and a bunch of crystals.

"oh my god!!" she exclaimed.

"thank you!!" she finished.
