And the Halls Echo with Your Silence || A Cookie Run Kingdom Fanfiction

Author's Note

This will have many spoilers of the CRK lore, especially the Cookies of Darkness storyline. There are also other spoilers.

This book goes off my AU, and although it is rather similar to the canon story of CRK, it does not match up entirely.

This book was first written BEFORE the Cacao Update, so there were no mentions in the beginning.

I may or may not (not sure) end up mentioning details from the new update, I'll see, but I most likely will only mention it in hindsight/have it not really imply major changes to entire plot if I include it at all.

Also, I will use different markings to symbolize different things.
For example-

Means a POV switch. The top of every chapter has a name, signaling the starting/main POV the the chapter.

Means an Author's Note/Trigger Warning. I will always put them in bold (like this 'chapter').

My AU for this book-

This is modeled off the canon CRK lore, but I added my own embellishments, unconfirmed/undenied details,  and changed a few parts.
This is also a bit similar to my 'canon' AU (the CRK AU I use most often), so most of these are general headcanons.

For example-
-(HC) When Dark Cacao got <slicey-dicey>ed by Dark Choco, he told him to run and not to come back. This was not out of hate or anger, but instead him wanting to protect his son from his subjects since he knew that they would try to execute/imprison him. So no, not disowning.

-(HC) Dark Cacao and Pure Vanilla are dating (ok kinda married in my main AU but here, Cacao 'died' before just before the marriage. They have not come out to almost anyone but the other Ancients/directly related family).

-Dark Cacao didn't really come out publicly for a bit since
a) He would never fully recover, he was still in fairly bad condition, and to be perfectly honest anyone else who knew of him was mildly concerned for his sanity and worried about whether he was actually engaging in therapy/self-care.
b) Pure Vanilla doesn't trust that he can go out again without being actually killed, even though he knows the full story <as pretty much the only one that believed the story Cacao told just about everyone who knew he was alive> because he's in short, purely terrified.

-When Dark Cacao finally forced his way back through to his kingdom, his kingdom was split between three general groups- the ones who blamed Cacao, the ones who blamed Choco, and the neutrals. Although these general categories didn't entirely determine on a whole the Cookies' opinions, the ones who blamed Cacao most likely didn't like him coming back and thought him a coward, while the ones who blamed Choco were happy he was back to bring order. Most of the Cookies, not knowing what happened, pinned blame on Cacao for 'disowning' his son instead of trying to help immediately (and to be honest, Cacao also belongs to this group himself).

-(HC) This was during the very first events of the start of the Dark Flour War. During this time of the around the first few months, the Lily Kingdom (White Lily's) was attacked first, leading to White Lily's 'defeat', taking her 'out of the war'. Other than her, Dark Cacao was the first Ancient out of the war (although he arguably had the most power). This led to a huge disadvantage to the other Ancients, as Dark Cacao had/donated the most troops, weaponry, and fighting tactics.

-(HC) Red Velvet was the first to join the Dark Order (which I find likely canon, if you know the ToSC story you understand my reasoning), then Pomegranate, Licorice, Poison Mushroom, Dark Choco, and finally, Strawberry Crepe.

-Dark Choco is a teenager/young adult. He is also the third youngest in the complete Dark Order, older than Strawberry Crepe and Poison Mushroom.

-The time periods are much closer together than in the original story.

-Dark Cacao was ~29 (??) when Choco was born.

The first chapter actually occurs after the second to the very beginning section of the fourth chapter, a couple of months after Cacao's publicity.

Choco, in the second/third chapter, still thinks Cacao is dead, since this occurs just before Cacao comes out as alive.

Aside from that, there won't really be hiccups in the timeline (if there are/seem to be, please inform me so I can put it here).
