I groggily opened my eyes, sitting up slowly. Looking around I realized I was still on my bed but it had gotten darker out, now nearing dusk. I pulled myself from the warm comfort of my bed and treaded over to the bathroom closing the door behind me. After I finished using the bathroom I began to walk back to my room when I spotted Brahms. He was neatly placed with his hands in his lap in a chair that sat in the corner of the room. I walked over plucking him from the chair and slinging him over my hip as I made my way towards the stairs. "Say Brahms, you think the place could use a little bit of a cleanup? Of course you do."
I made my way to the kitchen as I searched for cleaning supplies, setting Brahms down at the table while I dug through the cupboards under the sink. I eventually found some glass cleaner, a duster, some floor cleaner and a few rags to clean with. Deciding since I was already here I started in the kitchen. Wiping down the windows and counters, sweeping and mopping the floors and putting away the very few dishes I used. I even cleaned the fridge. I gently snagged Brahms from his chair and made my way through the rest of the house cleaning and wiping down every window and doorknob, sweeping and mopping the floor. I had eventually finished a few hours later and returned to my room. Completely worn and tired from cleaning the large mansion I contemplated just going to bed then. However, I was still very dirty with sweat and grime from all the dusting and cleaning so I begrudgingly decided to shower.
I grabbed a towel and headed for the bathroom, not even thinking or caring to grab an extra pair of clothes. Brahms lay gently discarded on my bed as I turned the hot water on. I was sore and tired so instead of showering I decided to just take a hot bath. I stripped from the dirty clothes, leaving them strewn across the bathroom floor as I gingerly placed myself in the tub, being careful as not to slip. I rubbed soap up and down my arms and legs feeling much better already. I glanced at my ankle, it was still a little sore but the swelling was completely gone and the bruises had turned a pale yellowish-green color. I laid back in the large tub, closing my eyes and letting the warm water soothe me.
I know I shouldn't be looking but they look so pretty, so peaceful. Their skin looked as soft as it felt, the way their face relaxed and their breath softened. They looked like someone out of one of my stories. I want to hold them, to touch them again.
Before I got too comfy and fell asleep in the tub I decided to get out and get ready for bed. I carefully climbed out and wrapped the towel around me, picking up the dirty clothes strewn about and throwing them in a basket to wash later. As I made my way back to my room I heard a soft knock, it had come from my room. I tiptoed, peeking around the casing to see if anyone was there but upon peeking in all I saw was Brahms. He had moved from the bed to his usual spot in the chair, I could only assume that meant the knock I heard was him moving around. I glanced over and on the bed was a pair of neatly folded pajamas, one for Brahms and one for me. The pajamas on the bed clearly weren't mine but instead a pair of oversized sweatpants and a large worn(insert favorite band/media) t-shirt. I could only assume they belonged to a previous worker of the Heelshires seeing as the Heelshires themselves strictly wore older styled clothing and they looked far to big to belong to Brahms. (AN: Psst, they were Brahms. He stole them from a previous worker lol, you were half right tho) Shrugging I threw on a pair of underwear/boxers and climbed into the large pajamas, then turning to Brahms I changed him into his own pajamas.
I climbed under the covers, slinging my arm over the doll as I hummed to myself. Tomorrow would be another day. I'd have to figure out where to go next or if I should even leave the safety and the comfort of the mansion...if I should even leave. I mean, what's really out there for me? I could just stay here with Brahms, adopt a stray cat, find a job in the nearby village and live the rest of my days here. Would that really be so bad?
And with that last thought I drifted to off to sleep once again.
(Just want to add a little background of how this story is gonna progress and what Brahms backstory is. So, Brahms didn't kill Emily. They had suspected it was him but it was soon after confirmed she was murdered by local teens in the town that had nothing better to do and Brahms was devastated by her death. He was cleared of all suspicion but it had emotionally wrecked him, his closest and only friend had died. He became distant and closed himself off from his parents. His father tried his best to be there for him while his mother was less understanding. She loved him yes, but she would push and pull and invade his space when he was in a very fragile state. One day they had fought and Brahms lashed out. His mother had gotten angry and shoved him resulting him in hitting his head. He had gone unconscious and his mother worried she had killed him, without even checking ,decided the only way to cover it up was to set fire to the mansion and call it an accident. This left Brahms badly burned in a few spots, mostly his arms, back and his face. Brahms survived the fire but had no idea what had happened prior to being knocked unconscious. Upon the discovery of Brahms being alive his mother insisted on his survival being a secret and that he would never leave the mansion again. Telling Mr. Heelshire that if the other children were to see him they would ridicule him and he wouldn't be able to handle it. So Mrs. Heelshire forced Brahms to stay hidden for the rest of his life leading up to now. He was indirectly cared for, homeschooled, and he had no outside interaction apart from his parents and the nannies that would work for the Heelshires. Brahms was truly a scared little child who felt alone and believed he was a freak. And now that you were here, he felt a little better. )
(Also, Idk if I should somehow find a way to make it so a grocery boy will have to drop groceries off again or if it should just be the reader that has to risk it and go into town to shop/work? Maybe I'll add a twist and have Brahms hunt and bring home little presents idk yet. Also Also, sorry for such a short chapter. I wasn't sure how to expand from the last chapter but I hope Brahms backstory explanation somewhat makes up for it :])
(Also Also Also, sorry for being very inactive! I was sick for like a week and then like a week later 3 people in my house had Covid so I got sick again. I'm gonna try to start writing again and do regualr-ish uploads, it might be once or twice a week or like a chapter every other day. Idk, writers block is kicking my ass lol)
