I wiped away a tear as I wrapped up the story and Aiden pulled me into a hug.
"I'm sorry you had to go through that when you were so young........."
I sniffed. "It wasn't your fault, I should've obeyed my parents........."
We sat there for a couple moments, Aiden stroking my hair until I stopped sniffing. "Thanks......"
"Of course. Feel better?" He asked.
"Yeah, a lot." I stepped away and took a deep breath. "We have to figure out how to get him arrested. It shouldn't be too hard, we're both victims and witnesses."
"Yeah, it should be easy to get him convicted."
I nodded and helped him clean up the camp before we went to town to get supplies.Aiden froze and snagged my shirt sleeve, pointing ahead of us. I blinked around some people and noticed our old master.
The familiar man was buying whips from a vendor a couple stalls down, I growled.
"The nerve of that man....." I grumbled, being led closer by Aiden.
"If we follow him to his house with the cops following us we can finally get him arrested and be safe." Aiden whispered. We tiptoed past some people and peeked around a corner to watch Master.
"We should only follow him to see where he lives for now, I rather not leave him in jail thinking I've forgotten what he caused me." I growled lightly, this man ruined my life. I never learned how to fly or hunt properly because he kidnapped me. He was going to pay. A light flame flickered over my hand and Aiden quickly took it, momentarily distracting me from me anger and hate.
"Stay calm Laya, can't have u getting in trouble before we get revenge." Aiden smiled softly, but something in the way he was holding my hand completely dissipated my anger and made my cheeks flush.
"Yeah......" I gently pulled my hand away, not sure why my heart sped up or why my face felt warm. "C'mon." I grabbed Aiden's shirt and pulled him after me as I followed the man down the road, hopefully right to his home.
He led us to a large black mansion in the woods and went inside, only because Aiden wouldn't let me bite his head off.
"We need a good plan Lay, I'm serious." Aiden whispered beside me, watching the house closely.
"I know that, but he was right there. I could've easily ripped him to shreds and tossed him away."
Aiden scowled at me.
"We aren't killers anymore, we only did that because he made us. We can make our own choices and let him rot in prison."
"I hate it when u have a point." I grumbled.
"Let's just come up with a plan and come back later yeah?"
I nodded, although I wasn't happy about it, and followed him back to our little campsite.~~~~
It's been days since we found out where he lived and all we've done is argue about what to do.
"We should attack from both sides along with having the cops, completely trap him." I suggested, again.
"That's a good idea, but wouldn't it be better if one of us went inside his house?" I shook my head.
"You seriously want to relive the weeks u were in there? Or you want me to relive the years I was stuck in that stupid cage!? I can't keep living the nightmares Aiden, and I'm not letting you put yourself at risk either. I can't let you do that for me, it's reckless and stupid."
"Good thing those are things I'm good at being." He kissed my cheek -I might've screamed internally- and took off in the direction of the mans mansion, only when I tried to follow did I notice while I was distracted he'd handcuffed me to the bar of our little huts perimeter.
"AIDEN!!!!!" I screamed, yanking on the cuffs, but it was no use, Aiden had left me there to..... protect me....? While he went and risked his life to get the man who'd wronged the both of us. I wasn't going to let him do that. As my anger swelled the cuffs melted off my wrist and I sprinted through the forest, following Aiden's scent trail. It better not be too late to save his sorry scales
I growled under my breath and focused on the trail.
I finally arrived in the back yard of the mansion, where Aiden was going right into the house, the man putting a knife to his back. I snarled, fire snaking along my arms but paused, everything Aiden had ever done was to protect me. He nearly starved in the cellar, making sure I was well fed, risked his safety and identity by fishing for me, and now he was risking his life to avenge me. I have to think rationally, if I were stuck in there Aiden would risk absolutely anything to get me back, I have to do the same. I quickly shifted into my large, black scaled dragon form and roared angrily, a bit of warning seeping in.
The master walked out and froze, staring at me in shock. "Pétard!? Impossible!" He shouted and I snarled, stomping on the ground and making an earthquake that made him fall on his rear end.
"You were warned and you ignored it. Now you will pay!" I dragged a tree from the ground and hurled it at him angrily, giving Aiden and some other people time to scurry from the house. Sadly, Master barely had time to jump out of the way of the tree when it crashed and he rolled for a moment in the grass, spitting insults in French."You have made a grave mistake little one." He yelled so I would hear, ignoring the fact that his slaves and whoever else were being led away by Aiden.
"Says the one I can easily squash with one talon." I retorted, raising an arm so if I were to put it down, he'd get squashed. He screamed and ran out of the way moments before a trail of fire blazed from my mouth and lit the house up like the North Star on earth.
"My home!" Master tossed a bronze chain up and around my neck before pulling, yanking my head down to the ground. I snarled.
Moments before Master would stab me in the eyes with a sword, a familiar handsome dark blue dragon dove from the sky and picked him up in his talon, shaking him hard until he let go to the sword.
I quickly shook off the chain and straightened, scales glinting in the firelight.
"You will never harm another person again. We'll make sure of that." Aiden growled, dipping his head to me before flying off to the prison.I started to get worried as the hours flew by and Aiden hadn't come back yet, I paced back in forth so much there was a groove in the dirt.
Finally he landed near me and shifted back, running a hand through his hair. "Are u.......-?" I cut him off with a kiss, filled with as much emotion as I was. It took a moment for the surprise to wear off, but as soon as it did he pulled me closer gently and kissed back. I pulled away slowly and he tucked some hair behind my ear.
"You're not mad?" He asked, looking like an adorable potato.
"Of course I'm mad nitwit!" I glared, but sighed. "I'm just glad we're both ok."
He smiled. "Lay....... Ever since we met I've had unexplainable but strong feelings for you and...... I've been wanting to do that for a long time now."
I rolled my eyes, unable to get the smile off my face.
"You sir, are a dork."
"Your dork, if you want me to be."
"Shut up and just kiss me."
He chuckled, but did what I asked. That was the day I'd found out what it felt like to love again.
