THE FIRST MEETUPSoft lingering kisses teasing my lips;Knee-weakening love bites to draw me into a daze;Warmest hugs for kindling hope in my soul drenched in this world's cold indifference;
I could never feel any such romantic gestures coming from my boyfriend for me.
But today was going to change it.
The door snuck shut behind him, but his shocked eyes refused to leave mine.
Time had stalled down.
Everything around us wore silence. The air must have faded into nothingness as well because neither of us could breathe. It felt like getting sucked into a vacuum, with all the countless emotions whirling inside our heads, pulling us into an unparalleled state of overwhelm."Kayt?" His voice filled the room.
I opened my mouth to speak, but my words shattered into whimpers.
His brows dropped low when he saw those tears trickling down my cheeks, and he flitted towards me. One. Two. And there we go. A fresh foreign, yet hugged with familiarity, scent kissed my sense of smell as he wrapped his arms around my frame, pulling me into his full embrace I had always longed to feel. So warm. So soothing. His hands ran up and down my back, rubbing it while he whispered gentle "I am here"s and "calm down, stupid"s in my ears.
But I couldn't hold myself in. My heart was flooding with feelings. It was hard to believe we were living it- that we were facing each other in 'person'; that that cruel distance of five thousand kilometres shrunk to hardly five centimetres between our faces.
"Yo, alright, but just don't ruin my tee with a snot."
I hitched at his words, ripping away from his hold and fixing a glare on my face.
"Believe me, Mr. Flint, you don't want to get hit in the ribs right now," I said, trying to cover up my smile.
"I don't care if it's coming from you."
This charming motherhugger.
I made a mistake by lifting my head to look at him straight in the eyes. His eyes were a hypnotizing sea of chocolate that started melting me to the core. They wouldn't allow me to consider anything else than diving into his soul.So that's what I did.
Poising my body on toes, I leaned in till we shared the same breathing space. Our proximity didn't let me look at Lloyd's reactions, but amid that dizzying butterfly overload, I felt his hand snaking around my waist and gingerly grabbing my side. Blinding sparks flashed in my brain when I pressed my lips against his incredibly soft ones. It was ephemeral, but that kiss left a promise of forever on my lips.
On pulling away, he moved to nuzzle my hair.
"Your future mother-in-law will freak out if she sees you here."
I chuckled, halfhearted. "Damn, I hope I'll win the lady's favour."
But deep down, I was too scared. Who'll trust a girl having an infamous family background with her son, given that they met online?
"Not your fault, doofus. We'll convince her, don't worry." He winked at me while smiling.
I blinked. Did I say that aloud?
