"WHAT?" Chara shrieked, causing Sans to recoil. "I am NOT in love with Frisk! If you mean LOVE, then yes," she said.
"Kiddo, you're really just gonna say all of that about Frisk, and then try to deny your love?" Sans asked. "I know you aren't the best with handling emotions, and there's your hatred towards humankind, but really? You've got a crush, and you just don't know what it is," he explained. Chara gritted her teeth and clenched her fists together, ready to start beating up this stupid skeleton.
"Hey, cool it there," Sans said, laying a hand over one of Chara's fists. "No need to start a Genocide Route."
"Yes there is, and this one is entirely focused on you!" she yelled. But before Chara could even get into any form of a battle stance, Toriel opened the door.
"My child, is something the matter?" she asked, in her soothing motherly tone. "I heard yelling, and needed to make sure my beloved daughter was okay."
"I-I'm fine, Mom," Chara said, all of her aggression dissipating, "Sans is just being annoying."
"Sans, if you're going to be Chara's new father, you have to learn her boundaries," Toriel told Sans in a somewhat scolding voice.
"Yeah, sorry Tori. Kiddo here had just asked me to help her with something and got mad when I answered her question," Sans replied, side eying Chara as best as a skeleton can. Toriel's muzzle scrunched, and she looked between Chara and Sans.
"So Chara," she asked, and Chara leaned away from her mother's condescending tone. The last time she had heard that tone of voice was when she and Asriel had replaced her shampoo with blue paint and turned her and Asgore into blue goats for a week. "You asked Sans to help you with a problem, and he did so, and you are... Upset about this?"
"He didn't answer my question!" Chara retorted, glaring at Sans. "He said 'Oh, you're in looooove'. That's not right at all!" Chara crossed her arms and sat for a moment, just fuming as Sans and Toriel exchanged glances and looked at her, Sans somewhat angry, and Toriel utterly confused.
"Would you care to explain your feelings to me?" Toriel asked, leaning over Chara and gently placing a paw on her shoulder.
"No, because you're just gonna agree with Sans," Chara said in a sulky way. Toriel stood completely upright again and nodded at Chara.
"I understand why you would think that," she said. "Sans, would you care to come with me and tell me what happened from your point of view while Chara calms down?"
"Sure, Tori," Sans said. He hopped up off Chara's bed and followed Toriel out of Chara's room. She sat on her bed, thoughts racing. She didn't love Frisk. She didn't. The only type of love she could feel for another human would be LOVE... right?
