"Aubrey, you're being over dramatic." Paige sighed, collapsing backwards onto my bed. She began running her nimble fingers through her blonde waves, something she only does when she's stressed or tired.

"How am I being over dramatic?" I gasped, slightly offended. Paige had just snuck back into the house through my window again, so the window was still open. I stalked across the room to close it, making sure that the cool night air stayed out.

"You didn't even give them a chance, babes. The guys probably really do want to get to know you. The least you could do is pretend to be nice."

"There's no way that's going to happen," I mutter, placing myself near the head of the bed just above Paige. "I refuse to even associate with them."

Paige murmered something underneath her breath, most likely hoping I didn't hear. Knowing her, it was something about me being a spoiled brat and not loving what I have in life. She doesn't understand this mess I'm in; nobody does.

I'm actually completely surprised that the 'curse of the fangirl' hasn't affected Paige and she isn't down there, trying to suck Niall and Liam's faces off.

"I mean, I don't need babysitters," I explained to Paige, whose eyes had fluttered closed. "Those boys clearly have lives, they don't need to be here. No one wants them here anyway. I just -" I paused, letting out a breath I didn't know I was holding. "You don't understand, Paige. You really don't."

"You're right, Aubrey, I don't understand." Paige immediantly sat up and turned to face me. Her piercing eyes glared straight into mine, making my palms sweat from the nerves. "I don't understand why you have such a sour attitude. I don't understand why you're making the worst of the situation and I really do not understand why you're not excepting who you are or your family."

"Excuse me?" My eyebrows narrowed at her, not believing the words that had just come out of her mouth. "Maybe if Louis was a better person, I wouldn't have such a bad attitude or make the worst of everything. My life is already hard enough, okay? You're all I have, Paige. I don't except my family because clearly they don't except me!"

"Look downstairs, Aubrey!" Paige's voice raised slightly as she motioned at the door, causing me to flinch back slightly. She was a bit scary when she was angry. I've only ever heard her raise her voice twice, and neither of those times were directed at me. "Didn't you see? Louis came back for you! He didn't just show up because he was in town! He took a break from his work and being a world famous superstar to come see you! Doesn't that mean anything to you?"

"No, Paige," I shot back, growing angry myself. "It doesn't mean anything, he doesn't mean anything!" Who does she think she is? She doesn't know what the hell I've been through or what Louis has put me through. If anything, she should be mad at him.

"He doesn't mean anything?!" Paige's normally beautiful blue eyes were wild. "Aubrey, you are ridiculous! Absolutely fucking ridiculous!"

"Paige, stop," I pleaded, my voice cracking slightly. I wasn't in the mood to argue with the only person in the world who loves me. Tears were pooling in my eyes at the thought of losing her due to fighting over my dick of a 'brother'.

Paige shook her head vigorously. "Aubrey, I'm going home. I think you could use some alone time. Give Louis a shot 'cause baby, he ain't going away anytime soon. You need to wake up. That's your brother down there, whether you like it or not."

"Paige!"

"Call me when you get your shit sorted out," she replied quietly before opening my window. I watched, purely speechless, as she slipped out and onto the familiar tree branch. She stepped out cautiously, then slammed the window behind her.
