Chapter 5

My Dad? "GET OUT!" I yell. He furrows his eyebrows in confusion "I'm your dad." I laugh "You stopped being my dad when you left!" I push past him, walk to my room, and slam my door! I look around my bag for my phone, I look in contacts. Mom. I quickly call her. She better answer! Ring Ring Ring! Finally she picks up "What's up? I'm at work." I respond quickly "Dad. Is. here." She hangs up.

30 minutes later

"WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING HERE!?" I hear my mom yell, My dads response was so stupid! "Because I'm apart of this family!" OH I forgot Jake! I rush out my car almost tripping on the stairs. "Where are you going?" My dad says, I respond "Not on a 5 year vacation with a 24 year old!" I walk out of the front door.

Jake is waiting on the bench, "Sorry! I will tell you everything in the car!" I say out the window. He slams the door shut. "You forgot me!!" I ignored what he said "Dad is home." He raises his eyebrows "This day just gets better and better!" Jake  says with sarcasm. "What happened?" He frowns "First I see Amber with Cole. They were kissing!" I cut him off "Hold up! Y'all are 7th grader!" He grunts "Let me finish, SO then me and Ash got in a fight. Then dad comes home!" I raise my eyebrows "I need to call Lydia." I dial her number, She answers "What's up?" I explain everything." The phone is silent. Well everything is silent. "Lydia?" I break the silence. She responds "I'll be home soon, Bye love you." I reply "Okay see you soon." Lydia ends the call. I sigh "Wanna get some food?" I wiggle my eyebrows to Jake. He chuckles "Okay, Chicken Express?" I give it a thumbs up.

My mom calls "Yeah?" I immediately respond, I hear her sniffles. I get a huge lump in my throat. The news I just heard was terrible, I look to Jake with tears in my eyes. "Brittany? What happened?" Tears roll down my cheeks "Lydia.... She got in a bad accident " Jack yells "IS THIS DAY FREAKIN CURSED OR SOMETHING?!" I Can't stop these tears. My whole world is collapsing! My terrible  dad is back, My beloved  sister is in the hospital. All I can seem to do is not move. I'm is stiff as a dead body. My  sobs muffle out Jacks screams and My moms pleads to answer. I finally speak "JAKE SHUT UP!" He immediately stops. "What hospital is she at?" I ask my mom still trying to stop crying, "Waterfront hospital." I hang up and speed up to the hospital. After an hour of speeding I hear cop sirens . I grunt in pull over and the side of the road. When he walks to my Hummer. "Officer I am an a huge hurry my sister is in the hospital!" Tears fill my eyes again. He quickly writes me a ticket and asks for my licence and registration. I give it to him. "Just please slow down. " I nod "Thank you officer!" He nods and walks back to his car. I turn left to the hospital. I Park and rush out almost forgetting Jack, I look and he is right beside me. I push open the doors. "Mam.." The nurse stops me "I'm looking for Lydia Hale?" She nods "Room 127."I rush to the elevator. It seems like forever till it comes. I forget it and run to the stairs. Up  A flight of boring grey stairs. I see the 100nds.

I see my mom and my dad, I look at Jake. He has a disgusted face, I sigh. "Lets go." I walk in the plain, boring room. I look at Lydia. She is hooked up to machines. My hand covers my mouth. "Jake! How are you?" My dad breaks the silence. "Better if you weren't here!" I smile "That's my brother!" I fist bump him. The nurse comes back in. "Only two at a time." My mom steps out pulling the boys too. She whispers "Let Brittany go first."  I walk to her, her hand is open and I take it. "Hey Lyds, Crazy day we've been having huh?" I try to think positive, She squeezes my hand. Then I have hope. Seconds later it turns into worry. A annoying beeping sound wouldn't stop! Doctors run in, "What's going on?!" The roll her bed away. "We need to get her into surgery now!" A nurse says. My tears come back. The last thing I said to her was I love you. Would that be  the last thing I said to her? Forever?
