The sky was tinged with gray.
The heavy raindrops rushed to the concrete ground. Petrichor filled the air. The temperature dropped lower, passersby hurriedly ran away from the cold rain. The pounding sound of rain was like a sad song.
Ha Jiwon strode on the main road with an umbrella. Raindrops splashed on her black and white striped Nike shoes, smearing dirty gray stains on them.
Reaching the police station entrance, she folded her umbrella, wiped her shoes on the carpet, and was about to step inside when a tall figure appeared in front of her. Ha Jiwon raised her head to see the other and immediately bowed her head once she recognized who that was.
"Chief Yoo, good morning."
The man in his sixties didn't say anything and looked at her with a serious expression.
"Come to my office."
Director Yoo threw back a sentence and turned to leave.
Ha Jiwon frowned, wondering if she had made a mistake. When she moved to S city, she only met Mr. Yoo once on the first day and rarely ran into him after that. It was understandable since he was the head of the department, she was just a lowly policeman, so there was nothing to discuss unless she had made a huge mistake that caught the big boss's eyes. If that was really the case, Ha Jiwon was sure that she would have to say goodbye to this job forever. Although she did not know where the mistake was, the boss pointed out her name, she couldn't escape. It was better to die quickly than to die gradually.
She took a deep breath and returned to her office, tidied up her clothes a bit, and then went to the Chief's room.

"Sit down"
Ha Jiwon closed the room door, trying to maintain her composure, walked over to the chair opposite the boss, and sat down as ordered.
"Recently, you accessed the department's system to find someone named Shin Jaesung?"
The director's unexpected question left Ha Jiwon stunned. She did log into the system of the city police department to see the information of this person because the database here was massive, reliable and the security was also much higher than the one in B city. In addition, this system can also be linked with data from other provinces, making it even more convenient. But Shin Jaesung's information was still so meager.
"That's right, sir."
"You know him?"- Still maintaining the cold face, he asked.
Ha Jiwon hesitated a bit but decided to tell the story of the red light district case in B city, Jeon Joonhyuk, her suspicions about Kim Seokjin and the Kim family.
Director Yoo silently listened to her narration. His eyes that had been imprinted with the traces of years seemed to flash a ray of light.
Ha Jiwon faced her boss's serious listening attitude; even though she was still tense, she felt he- a person who had arrested dozens of vicious and cunning criminals, understood her point. Her colleagues always said she was overthinking, but she was obstinate. She would not give up until she found the correct answer. And maybe...Chief Yoo would help her discover this problem.
"Pack your things, tomorrow you will be transferred to the special drug investigation team."
"Why?"- Ha Jiwon exclaimed and was immediately startled. Whether surprised or disgruntled, she was only a low-level police officer; questioning the decisions of her superiors was a foolish thing to do. She pursed her lips, feeling uneasy at the bottom of her heart.
