Jungkook felt uneasy. He faced the mirror with pained expression, fixing some badges on the midnight blue uniform. He was supposed to meet the new guard today and somehow this made him feel anxious for no reason. It's okay Jungkook, it's just one guard what're you exaggerating about. A knock startled him, as if a soul left his body. "Come in!" The door opened revealing a maid dressed in unusually bright looking clothes. "Your majesty, your parents are ready to start."
"Tell them I'm not ready yet." The maid nodded and left. Jungkook took a deep breath, running a gloved hand trough his fixed hair. "It's not a big deal. It's not-" Suddenly he felt nauseous, running over to the bathroom.

."Jungkook baby. There you are." His mother walked forward to give her son a soft hug, Jungkook returning it. It wasn't that big of an event, only people from the palace gathering up to see what's going on. His dad was nowhere to be seen again. Typical. "Why is there such a big celebration just to meet a guard?" He asked eyeing the decorations. His mother turned around and walked over to one of the maids. "He's a very honorable guard my dear. He almost died in a war just to save your grandmother. You know him." Jungkook stood still, not sure who she's talking about.
"I don't think I remember...." His mother sighed but smiled, placing both her hands on his shoulders gently. "I'm sure you do. You'll see after he arrives." They talked for a bit, Jungkook looking around curiously trying to spot the new guard. People were walking around eating and talking loudly, musicians standing at the other side of the garden playing elegant tunes. "Jungkook come here." He heard his mother's voice call, the boy following to where she stood, her expression bright. Next to her was a male, probably in his mid 20's, white fitted guard attire hiding his pale body and ash grey hair with blue undertones falling into his eyes.
"This is the guard Jungkook. I'm sure you remember now." But he didn't. Jungkook looked over from his mother to the guard again, now seeing him more up close. His eyes were sharp, cat like with prominent bottom lashes, pupils deep teal color. Just as his eyes his jaw could cut, lips heart shaped. He had never seen this man in his entire life. "Uh.....hello." He greeted, the guard bowing down politely. "Your majesty." He reached for Jungkook's hand and kissed the knuckles, catching him a little off guard. (No pun intended).
"This is Kim Taehyung honey. Doesn't that tell you anything?" Jungkook shook his head as Taehyung let go of his hand. "I'm honored to meet your majesty. Even if you don't remember me I hope you can while we spend time together."
"What?" Jungkook wondered, looking back at his mother. "Yes honey, he's your own personal guard from now on." She explained, hugging Taehyung with one arm around his shoulders before both shared a smile. Jungkook hummed. "That's nice."
"I'm so happy you'll get along. Come spend some time together. I'll be at the arbor if you need me." She let go of Taehyung giving him one last smile before walking off, her long emerald dress sweeping the floor. Taehyung turned to Jungkook, locking an eye contact. It was uncomfortably silent for Jungkook's taste, his eyes darting everywhere but the man infront of him. "Let's take a walk, shall we?" He cleared his throat, signing for Taehyung to follow him and he did. Both men started walking towards the palace, trying to get some time alone from the loud music and voices.
They got muted after Taehyung shut the door, Jungkook letting out a relieved sigh. "Mom told me to let you fill in some papers. Mind following me?" He took into a walk, the guard swiftly following behind trough the large hallway and stairs up to a second floor. "So we met?" Jungkook tried to start a conversation. "We did your majesty, precisely on 26th November 2014." No wonder Jungkook doesn't remember, that was years ago. "On what occasion?" He asked, arms folded behind his back. "During your grandmother's birthday your majesty. The kingdom was attacked, someone almost shot her but I blocked the attack. You spoke to me that day your majesty."
"You can drop the majesty. Just call me sir." Taehyung nodded. "It's weird I don't remember that ever happening." He continued, spotting the door to royal office in the corner of his eye. "That's completely understandable sir, it was a while ago. But I remember your words very clearly."
"Which are?"
"I quote 'next time we meet I'll make you my personal guard', we never saw each other ever again, but it always stuck with me sir. I really needed to find you." He explained, Jungkook finding this behavior a little obsessive, his eyebrows narrowed into a straight line. "Well, that seems quite needy if I do say so myself. Not a quality I look for in a guard to be quite frank." He opened the office door allowing Taehyung to come after him. "I assure you you won't be seeing this attitude anymore sir." Jungkook closed the door and sat down onto the chair behind the desk while Taehyung sat down on a chair infront of the desk. He slid a stack of stapled papers towards the man who took it and started reading carefully. Jungkook used this time to try and remember the event. 2014 huh, his grandma...attack...he got nothing.
Throughout all the memories he collected during the years this was that one moment he had forgotten. It was weird because this event wasn't deemed unimportant or uninteresting, so it should've been easy to remember. "Can I have a pen sir?" Jungkook passed him a dark brown calligraphy pen with golden assets, eyes watching as he signed the papers everywhere it had a free line. "Thank you."
"I'm happy to be working for you your majesty."
