This poem is one I wrote for a school assignment once and I actually had a lot of fun with it and I'm excited to share it. Hope you enjoy!

TW- mention of breaking and entering, murder/death, knives, blood, and violence. Not overly graphic but if these things disturb you easily then reader discretion is advised.

Go To Sleep, By L0k10fA5gar6(Loki)

It was hard to smile,

So I carved one permanently,

My eyelids wanted to close,

So I burned them from my face,

Aren't I beautiful?

Everyone should be as beautiful as me,

I will make them.

I roam around, searching for a bright canvas

When they are found, they never smile

They only watch in terror.

I carve in beauty,

So it will never leave.

Then I tell them,

Go to sleep.

Now I have found

My next promising beauty

She'll look so perfect with a smile like mine.

I wonder if she'll accept the gift,

Or deny it and rest.

I won't mind either choice, it's all a thrill.

My craving for crimson rises

As I draw closer to the fortressed home.

The safety of the resident disappears

As I smash through the window.

Now I am on the clock

Soon the authorities will come

Trying vainly to capture me.

But when they come, i'll be long gone.

Thankfully, my job is made easy this night

The one I came to see is curious

Coming to me

I slip silently through the shadows

To the base of the stairs.

I hear her footsteps approaching

I can hardly contain my excitement.

Slow and weary, she comes down

Stopping halfway to look around.

She cannot see me

Nor sense my presence.

Till she steps off the last stair

Then turns in my direction.

She knows not who I am,

Crouched in shadows and cloaked in darkness.

Then I step up, and into the cold light.

My smile carved and my eyes wide

I ask as always

Aren't I beautiful?

She stares in shock and disbelief.

I am but a legend,

A myth,

A bad dream.

How are you here, you don't exist

You're just a story to scare little kids.

Her voice is shaky and denying

Though she is clearly in objection

I came to offer a gift.

Though she might not come with me,

She'll add to my growing collection.

I tell her not to worry, she'll be beautiful too.

But she merely screams and bolts

Such a shame

My beauty is getting away

I simply can't allow for that to happen,

So I chase her down.

Pinned to the floor, unable to move

She screams as I carve a smile,

So pretty and sweet, into her face.

Now she's beautiful like me,

But instead of admiring such art

She continues to screech

I can hear the commotion starting outside.

So I tell her shush, just

Go to sleep.

I pull a friendly blade and put it deep

She can rest forever now.

Calmly in sleep.

I enjoy the feeling of warm liquid

Seeping over everything

But I cannot stay.

For from not afar, someone crashes the door.

I stand then make my escape.

Once again, they find someone else

In my place.

They'll never catch me.

Of this I'm sure.

For who can find

The infamous and forever beautiful
