Percy's POV
"I'll be gone for a week. Athena Chase and I both have to attend, and California is a long way."
"Yeah okay, Dad."
"And Percy? Keep an eye on Annabeth."
My dad was never one to care about my love life, but I guess he did now.
"I will."
"And your mother will be with me. Call her if anything goes wrong because my phone's always busy. There are supposed to be thunderstorms later this week so stay safe."
"Yeah, yeah."
Annabeth's POV
A month after the incident, my mom came to my room.
"Annabeth, next week Posiedon Jackson and I will both be at a conference in California for the week. Be careful and, uh, keep in touch with Percy."
"Seriously? You don't mind me with him?"
"That doesn't mean you sleep with him, just, you know, call him if something happens. I don't like it, but he seems to like you."
I blushed. I guess he did like me, considering we had kissed. We hadn't talked about it for a while though.

The next week, I said bye to my mom as she got on her plane to California. I had the house to myself for a whole week.
But I was responsible, so I wouldn't do a thing wrong, obviously. I went home and changed into pajamas, an old My Chemical Romance shirt and pajama shorts.
