[ Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) - Journey ]
Techno got a call that his father was having some car trouble and called the younger man over because he was very good at fixing things. The little brown haired girl decided to tag along, unlike multiple other times.
"Are you sure you wanna go? You know you don't have to."
"I want to! Maybe you can teach me how to fix his car!"
Techno turned around quickly after hearing that sentence out of her mouth. He was surprised to say the least. She was interested in fixing things but never once actually tried to help and or learn. He smiled as the younger girl put on her shoes and grabbed a hair tie before putting her hair into a braid.
"Let's go then, and I'm not gonna let you back out of this, Fallon. Since you're coming with me, you're learning, you got that? I'm not saying that to be mean, I'm saying that so you learn."
She looked up at the male with a smile on her face and nodded before running out of the apartment. He then closed the apartment door after making sure he had everything and tried to catch up with the girl.
Once the pair got to the males parents house, they went in and got his dad's car keys before Fallon sat in the driver's seat per Techno's request.
"Start the car, Fal."
"But what if I break it? What if the car starts rolling? What if-"
"All you have to do is put the key in the ignition and turn it forward. If you look at the ignition it should have lines. Go to the one that has two lines, then his car will be started. But you have to hold down the clutch as you do it, because he has a stick shift."
"Which one is the clutch?" Fallon asked, taking the keys from his hands.
"The one all the way to the left." He answered before she nodded and started the car.
"That's my girl." He ruffled the younger girl's hair.
"See, this is how he knew something was wrong with the car. The check engine light, it's the yellow one." The male pointed as she smiled and nodded.
"What's next?" Fallon asked eagerly.
"Now we pop the hood and find what is wrong. He said his oil was low, so he needs an oil change. But he also said when he was shifting gears it was almost difficult and slippery almost."
Fallon got out of the driver's seat and stood next to Techno on a step stool. Techno shuffled his playlist, and Seperate Ways (Worlds Apart) by journey started playing. Fallon was an old music freak, and that's one thing that helped her and techno's bond. They bonded over music, and which bands they liked, and their favorite albums, favorite songs, etc.
"What do you think is wrong with it?" Techno asked as he moved out of the way and let the younger girl look.
She knew car parts like the back of her hand, she just never knew where they all were. That was a secret talent of hers that nobody knew, not even Techno. Fallon studied cars because she thought they were cool. She didn't tell anyone because she felt as if she was alone. A female like something that is male dominated? Not the best for a 13 almost 14 year old girl.
"His clutch needs to be replaced. He stripped his gears, oil change, definitely needs to clean the battery or else he could get terminal battery corrosion." She stated as she pointed everything out to the older man with a smile on her face.
Techno stood there with a proud look on his face. He was beyond proud of her. He didn't notice half of the things she noticed, the only thing he did notice was the oil change. But there was one thing that Fallon didn't get, that Techno caught.
"Look at his bearing too, Fal." Techno pointed to it before twisting it around with his finger.
"It's cracked." She spoke before he nodded.
"It's cracked and it's rusty. So you know what we do now?" Techno asked as he got the measurements of everything they needed then closed the hood of the car. Fallon shook her head while they got back into Techno's car.
"We go to AutoZone, we get the parts we need, then we fix it."
Fallon smiled. But it wasn't a full smile. Luckily for her, Techno didn't catch it. Her father never taught her anything Techno is and has. Her mother didn't teach her half of the things Techno taught her either. She always felt something missing with them, like a hole in her heart. She still feels it with Techno, just not as much.
There is still something missing. There is still something she hasn't found.
The pair went through the store quickly, luckily Techno knew where everything basically was in this store. The pair always got looks wherever they went. Whether it was dirty looks, happy smiles, weirded out people, or scared people, they always got them. But they didn't care.
Once they got back to his parents house, they got to work. Techno explained to Fallon how everything had to be fixed, and walked her back through the process whilst she fixed it. He let her fix it because she was a hands-on learner.
"Look at you go, Fallon. I'm so proud of you." Techno said with a smile on his face.
Fallon looked up at him with a smile on her face as well. She was beyond proud of herself, and to hear it from someone that isn't herself, made her extremely happy. Techno was the first person to ever say that he was proud of the girl.
