Mateo stared down the dark window of his house, a slim silhouette clasped in the darkness pursued by the weak lights of the fireflyes near his house tiptoed in a sinister way.  A shiver run down the back of the slim boy, who would travel this late at night, and without a lantern to? A spiral of anxious emotions traveled his already blemished, frightened bone marrow heating him up. Could that be the murderer? Or was it just a citizen who was behind schedule and finished to late work? Regardless of the reason Mateo felt uncomfortable, but mostly his fear was for Luisa, poor thing could be  in danger.

She was the strongest person in Encanto, so it was expected of her to capture the criminal with no help. And that worried Mateó, as for him she was the sun that rises when Pepa was happy,  the sweets that Julieta bake and  the wisdom that Alma shared. He admired her, and how she always encouraged the villagers to push their limits to better themslelves. She never once told someone that they weren't strong enough to do this or smart enough to know that. She was so kind and positive that her smile would make the sun come up every morning and the moon rise like a silver chandelier every night. And nights chatting with Luisa we're the best, she would tell amazing tales next to the camp fire and help animals find their way back  home. But she was also gentle and sweet, a sensitive girl who did her best to not let people down.

That was what he admired most about her, what made him feel in love with her. She is to pure for this world, to sweet and with time their friendship grow into something more, at last on his side. But how could you not love Luisa? She is kind, smart and carring. And despite her hard exterior she  is actually delicate and pragmatic. If anything, Mateo feared for her safety.

He know she can defend herself, but still, Luisa was just a young girl! Why did everyone expect her to handle such a dangerous job? She shouldn't be traumatised by gore events like a few days ago, and he will definitely report that to Alma in the morning. Because Luisa... she was sensible, his sensitive princess. Mateó felt a pinch on his heart, he knows that she will never see him the way he does, she was too amazing, good family, great personality, beautiful, too beautiful  to look at a nobody like him. When he settled down in Encanto she and her family were so kind. He own them a lot, shame that a skinny rat like him couldnt help much...

He looked to the side, sliding his head on the pillow, why was love so troublesome? When he first arrived he didn't reckon he would fall so quickly, like how long was it? Like a few months? True love took years to develop, it took time, sacrifices and struggles with your significant other, which they never faced, since Luisa always saw him as a friend.

And here he was, like a fool,  crying out loud in his pillow for the ilusion of unshared love. Or was it for the fact that he knows he can't protect her? He wanted to, but he was to weak, to skinny, to useless. And what of this unshared love? Was it making her unhappy with him? Cuz that would kill him, she was already under a lot of pressure, he wouldnt dream to cause her harm.

The next morning was quite anxious for the Madrigals, they were all gathered around the dinner table but almost none could erase the nauseous expression from their face. The murder from a few days ago split their stability in half and burned them down. Felix tried to keep   the news about the knife throwing boy and the murdered children from his wife, after all he didn't wish to scare her or the kids . He was instead very proud of Camilo, he handled the situation very calmly and protected both his mother and the other youngsters by teaching them  security methods. There was his soon, a proud Madrigal, telling them not to leave the house and use a special light signal, he invented it himself, to tell the near by houses that their parents didn't get home pass the normal hour. Just in case something bad happens.
