Grayson's POV
Mel just called me & told me that she is leaving tonight to her nana's house in New York for a few months but that she'll be back soon.
I was gonna go say goodbye to her later tonight.
I couldn't believe that as soon as her & I became official something would get in the way. But family should always come first so I respect her choice.
As I was around my house I saw that Tati was in my house in the kitchen. She was Ethan's partner in a project for school.
"Hey." I said.
"Hi." She said.
There was a pause.
"I uh, forgot we need more glue for this part. Be right back." Ethan said & ran upstairs.
Tati & I looked at each other.
"So you heard about Mel? About her going to New York for the next few months?" I asked.
"Oh, yeah." She said.
"Do you know why?"
She shook her head in no not trying to make eye contact.
"Oh...Well, she told me she misses her nana & her nana needs her right now. But I find it weird that she's staying for so long." I said.
"Yeah." She said silently.
"I mean 10 months? That's crazy."
She just nodded in silence.
"I'm just upset that she's leaving for so long." I said.
"Yeah. Me too." Tati said kinda awkward.
She was acting a little weird.
"You okay?" I asked.
"Yeah." She said & looked away.
I nodded. I grabbed an apple from the kitchen.
"Well, I'll see you later." I said as I exited the room.
"Grayson, wait!" She said.
"Yeah?" I said & walked back.
She sighed.
"Ugh, Mel is gonna hate me for this. But I need to tell you."
"Tell me what?"
"Mel isn't just going to New York to see her grandmother."
"Then why else would she go?"
She sighed again.
"Grayson...Melanie is pregnant."
I gasped.
"W-What?" I said.
"Melanie is going to let a close family friend adopt the baby in New York. She's gonna stay there until she gives birth."
"Wait, Mel...is pregnant with my baby."
"Yes! Please do something! She can't do this!"
I rubbed my head & panted a bit.
I walked outta the kitchen & got my car keys.
"Thank you, Tati! Thank you so much." I said as I walked outta the house & ran into my car.
I started the car & drove off to Mel's house.
