The seed was infuriating. Wei Wuxian glared down at it, the same tiny green stalk sprouting that had been there for two days. They'd headed west from Gusu, however, the plant hadn't given them any sign that they were going in the right direction. Lan Jingyi was already complaining profusely about it, Lan Sizhui trying to calm him down. Jin Ling had somehow managed to convince Jiang Cheng to let him come (Wei Wuxian guessed that Lan Xichen had a hand in it), so now the young master was shouting at Lan Jingyi to shut up. Wei Wuxian could tell Lan Wangji really wanted them to be quiet, but he said nothing. Wei Wuxian turned to Lan Zhan, about to propose a change of plans, when a shivering pain caused his legs to give out.

"Wei Ying!" Lan Zhan said, catching him with a deeply worried expression.

"I'm ok, Lan Zhan," Wei Wuxian said, despite his death grip on Lan Zhan to keep himself from falling over.

The three young cultivators had stopped arguing, looking at their Wei Xiong worridley. His time was running out.

Over the next few days, they changed directions, trying all around as fast as they could go. Finally, on their way to the mountains near the Yunmeng Jiang Sect, the seedling started to grow.

Lan Sizhui was rather tired. They'd been moving non stop, and while he would do anything to save Wei Wuxian, they did need to rest. Something Hanguang Jun seemed to forget with his husband in such bad shape. But Wei Wuxian had pretty much collapsed from exhaustion and pain near the foot of a mountain, so they had made camp. Lan Jingyi had proclaimed that he could start a fire in no time, and had failed miserably to Jin Ling's absolute delight. The yellow robed master also tried to start one, but to his utter shame, he couldn't. Lan Sizhui had seen that Lan Wangji was getting rather impatient, so he hurriedly lit it much to the detriment of the others.

"It's not fair," Jinyi wailed. "You're too good at everything!"

Jin Ling smacked him.

"Shut up, you just can't do anything!"

"Well, you're just the young mistress!"

Lan Sizhui sighed in defeat as they began yet another scuffle.

Later, when their tents were set up and Lan Wangji had sequestered himself off with his husband, the three sat around the small fire, warming their hands in the chilly weather.

"Did Hanguang Jun seem to... recognise this place? Master Wei too?" Lan Jingyi asked hesitantly.

"Yeah, me too," Jin Ling muttered, poking at the fire with a branch. Lan Sizhui pushed some errant strands back from his face. He knew. Lan Wangji had told him about this spot, during the years Wei Wuxian was dead. But he didn't say anything. That wouldn't be fair to his parents.

Some time later, Lan Jingyi dozed off, so the other two lugged him to their tent. He sprawled out in the middle of it, as ungraceful as ever. Lan Sizhui smiled. He would never change. Stepping back outside, he saw Jin Ling watching him. Even in the dark, the vermillion red mark on his head stood out. Lan Sizhui wanted to touch it. He blushed at that thought. Sometimes he wished he was Lan by blood, so it wouldn't be so obvious when he blushed. While he was internally panicking, Jin Ling had walked over, his cheeks red too.

"Do you think Wei Xiong will be ok?" Jin Ling asked. Lan Sizhui blinked, then nodded, his expression softening.

"Father will never let him die again."

Wei Wuxian woke up from a restless sleep, enveloped in the warm embrace of Lan Wangji. He could feel the poison blocking up his qi, his dan tian. It was a suffocating feeling, but being held by Lan Wangji made him feel safe, no matter what. He shifted slightly, trying not to wake his sleeping spouse, but Lan Wangji was always attuned to him. His golden eyes flew open, making sure his Wei Ying was alright. Wei Wuxian raised a hand to cup his face. He was so beautiful: Lan Zhan truly lived up to his name as the Second Jade of Gusu. Lan Wangji cupped Wei Wuxian's hand with his own, nothing but love in his eyes. Wei Wuxian shifted forward, kissing those soft lips. Lan Zhan kissed him back, the worry and desperation he felt at Wei Wuxian's situation obvious in every touch. Wei Wuxian pulled back, his other hand tugging loosely at the Lan headband. Lan Wangji gently stopped him.

"Wei Ying needs to rest," Lan Wangji told him seriously, making Wei Wuxian pout.

"But I don't wanna~," he said in a singsong voice that had Lan Zhan kissing him again. Wei Wuxian giggled, delighted. But all too soon, Lan Wangji pulled away.

"Wei Ying must rest," Lan Zhan said again.

"But Lan Zhan~."

"No."

Wei Wuxian humphed and snuggled into Lan Wangji, listening to his heartbeat. The breeze outside ruffled the tent and the buzzing of cicadas was dying out. Wei Wuxian could vaguely hear Lan Sizhui and Jin Ling talking outside, and he smirked as he guessed what they were talking about. Lan Wangji placed a tender kiss on Wei Wuxian's messy hair. Silver eyes met gold as they smiled at each other, then settled down to sleep.

Sorry it's a little bit short, I'll try and make the next longer!
