Chapter 1: Into the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel World

All of the sudden, there she was.

The smell of moisture in the air and the bright sunlight greeted her. All around her were buildings and in front of her was a wide street.

She wondered where she was. The last memory she had was installing the new expansion pack, "Range of Expectations." And then she heard someone shout.

"What is going on?!"

"This is my character!"

"Where's the GM?!"

That was when she noticed. Her clothes were not her usual daily clothes. She found herself to be wearing a black coat, a gray shirt, black pants, and a blue scarf. Fingerless white gloves were on her hands and black shoes were on her feet. Her left forearm was wearing a silver gadget called a Duel Disk.

"...Could it be..." she was starting to think that the impossible happened.

She tried to move but her body somehow felt wrong. It was like wearing shoes with very high heels. Her limbs felt wrong whenever she tried to move them and so, she tripped over nothing and fell.

When her body hit the floor, something appeared in her vision. A large icon that had an image of a woman popped up. The image showed a girl who had long violet hair with crimson streaks. She also had blue eyes and a black choker was on her neck.

Surrounding the image were five buttons that had the words <Inventory>, <Equipment>, <Cards>, <Status>, and <Missions>.

There was also information about her current location: <Japanese Server / Neo Edo>. Also, a button was floating at the corner which had the words <Friend List>

The girl pressed the <Status> button and a new window appeared.

"This is... my character. How in the world..." Yuurika whispered.

The information she saw in the window was exactly like her character from the game. She saw a shop's window and looked at her reflection.

A blue-eyed young woman with long violet hair which had crimson streaks stared back at her from the reflection. Aside from her hair, eyes, and clothes, her facial features and overall look resembled her real life's appearance.

"It's like my game character. But somehow, my real life appearance also got mixed in", she muttered.

One thing she found out after experimenting was that if she focused on a small spot on her forehead, her Menu would appear. She checked her Inventory and all her items were there. When she checked her Cards, all of her decks and cards were safe. Everything was like her game character in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel World.

"Ah... The Friend List!" Yuurika finally noticed the button and pressed it.

A list of names appeared and she scrolled down. Some of them were white in color while the others were gray. Yuurika deduced that the white ones were online and present in the world while the gray ones were offline. She kept scrolling until she saw the name "Botan Shishiro" in white.

"Botan's here too? Wait... I wonder if the voice chat is active", Yuurika said and then pressed the name.

A ringing sound echoed in her mind similar to that of a telephone ringing.

Hello? Yuurika? Is this you? a woman's voice asked in her mind. The experience was the same as when someone would talk to another using telepathy.
