"Stay away from that boy Izalea Matthews," Is the first thing that Anna says to me after gripping my elbow tight and dragging me as far away from the door as she can, as if Noah was only a few feet away from me. I whirl around to face her, ripping my arm out of her grasp.
"You can't tell me what to do!" My hands shake by my sides with anger, but also frustration. How dare she avoid me like the plague, and then come back demanding that I stay away from the one person who I would much prefer the presence of in this very moment.
"I damn well can, and you will listen to me," Anna's eyes narrow in fury and betrayal, her voice trembling as she attempts to control herself. She was not one to lash out, and this newfound emotion of hers as much as I wouldn't like to admit, both frightened and shocked me.
"Why?" The courage I had left in me, I allowed to fade as I slumped my back against the wall in defeat. "Why Anna? Why should I listen to you? You told me yourself the other day to make things up with him, what's so different now?"
"That was before I saw who he was," She whispers, finding my eyes with so much plead in them. Before I can question anymore, she spins around on her heel and storms back towards the door. "But go ahead, I know you're not going to do as I say anyway,"
With that, she slams the door with nothing but her coat, while I'm left staring at the spot where Anna once stood.
"Oh come on!" I groan, fumbling with the entrance to my locker, which clearly was Izalea-proof. I bite my lip in concentration, ensuring that I enter the correct digits into the machine once again, as it spits its dummy back out with the words 'try again'. Annoyed, I kick the nearest locker with as much force as I can, underestimating the pain that it would cause me.
"Ah, fuck!" After hopping on one foot, trying to nurse my foot back to health with a string of profanities, I also seemed to underestimate the loneliness of the corridors.
"You did it all wrong," A familiar deep voice rings out from behind me. In a flash, I'm facing the one male who manages to make my heart skip the most. I didn't expect him to stand so close, his chest millimetres away from mine, as I gulp. His eyes are strained on my face with a small smile resting on those gracious lips, but I can't say the same for mine. I decide to take my sweet ass time admiring him, and his choice of clothing. I'm no longer surprised to see him wearing his famous attire of a simple shirt and sweats, which cling to his body, enhancing all his glorious features. Clearing his throat, I snap my eyes back to his with a blush spreading across my cheeks. "May I?"
Nodding bluntly, I keep my head low and step aside so that we switch positions. I watch as his tall frame stands next to mine, the smell of his fresh scent filling the air I breathe. Is it just me or is this man trying to kill me? "Code?"
"I don't know," I mumble lamely, glancing at those green eyes "I forgot,". His lips turn up at the sides in a teasing smirk, as he removes his hands from the lock to stretch before him.
