Gullible.

Stupid.

Naïve.

Can you guess how many times I asked myself, 'why did I actually think that he was different'? The moments I spent, telling myself that 'believing there is good in a bad soul is ludicrous'. Hours ticking by, wasting hope on light which was already dying. Experiencing happiness, seemed as though it played a part in an evil trick of mankind.

Questions, circling around my head. Why am I thinking about him? Why do I care so much that he lied? Why does it hurt so much? I ask myself, to which only my heart can answer. The answer is the same as the answers to every question I have for my parents.

What is it I did, that made you want to leave me?

Earlier

My vision was blurred as I ran through the corridors. The pain hadn't really sunk in just yet, but I knew it would soon follow. I had to get out of there. When I rounded the corner from outside, I bumped into a strong body.

Their hands reached out to steady me as I looked up into their eyes.

"Riley?"

"Woah, Izzy. Are you okay?" His eyes filled with concern as he looked me over in a caring way.

"Y-yeah, I'm fine," I sensed how close we were, as I jumped back in embarrassment away from him.

However, Riley didn't seem to get the memo as he stepped closer to me and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. This led me to look up into his eyes again and he began to lean forward. My face scrunched up when Riley closed his eyes, and angled his face down to mine with pouted lips.

Before I could even push him away, he was taken away from me as fast as I came into contact with him in the first place. My feet were glued to the floor beneath, allowing the scene in front of me to go ahead. It wasn't until I heard shouting from behind me that I could properly see what was happening.

Noah was on top of Riley's body, straddling him while he ploughed his fist into his face. It didn't take long for a crowd to appear around the fighting bodies, cheering and gasping. There were cries for them to stop, but also laughs for them to continue.

To begin with, Riley let Noah attack him while he was laughing, but then his laughing began to die down. Ruby red blood was spluttering out from his mouth, his face turning a pale white. Riley wasn't moving, his eyes becoming lifeless. If Noah didn't stop now, he was going to kill him.

Noah was going to kill him.

It's not like I planned for this, but my feet started taking me forwards, and soon turned into running in their direction. I was calling for Noah to stop but he wouldn't. I would be an idiot to get myself involved and to put my own self in danger. So that's exactly what I ended up doing.
