"That was nice of you," I state, standing still with Noah in the carpark, who walked me back before his basketball practice. When Elijah swung at the boy who I quickly learned was Jax, Noah threatened the canteen for nobody to tell the headmaster what happened, and he, James and his other friend, Sam dispersed the crowd.

"Eli's always been there for me, that's the least I could have done for him," He shrugs, glancing down at me, lingering on my shoulder. "He's just lucky that it wasn't me who hit him or he'd be much worse,"

"I still can't believe he did that. I never knew Eli would do such a thing," I say softly, my eyes daring to water, knowing that Elijah would never hurt somebody, and wouldn't even hurt a fly even if he wanted to. Elijah was the sweetest boy I've ever met, and yes I don't have any experience with any boy before, but Elijah was so caring and he was like a brother to me. Eli was becoming my Matthew.

"You can't really blame him for lashing out. Eli doesn't show it much, but just like everyone, we only have so much of a limit and once it's been breached, we can't help ourselves. That fucker got what he deserved for being such a creep to Vic and for touching you, so don't feel bad about it," Noah explains, narrowing his eyes back onto my shoulder, and reaches out to brush his fingertips against my skin. "Are you okay though?"

"I'm fine, thank you," I blush, stepping away from his touch. Noah frowns at my movement, but doesn't comment on it. At that moment, Lydia runs out into the carpark and launches herself at me with her arms around my neck.

Over her shoulder, Noah smiles at me and dips his head in a gesture of a 'see you later' kind of thing. Wrapping my arms around Lyds, I watch Noah's retreating back.

"Has he gone?" Lydia whispers into my ear, readying herself to unlock herself from me.

"Yeah," Lydia removes herself, biting her lip. "What's wrong?"

"Can I stay over at yours? We can invite Vic too. Have a girls night, I think it would be good for us. Plus, we've never been to your house before. Oh my fuck Lydia, that was the worst excuse of all excuses. You know what actually, I'll just go back home," She rambles blindly, bending down to grab her backpack and walk away but I stop her.

"Come on idiot," I laugh, placing my arm on my hip to make a hole that she can loop hers through. Lydia bashfully smiles at me and complies.
