Tranquil stepped out of the comfort of Willow's lab and opened up the deeply labelled map. It was so deeply labelled, with so many different types of Pokemon in all sorts of locations around the Route, that Tranquil became dazzled with the many options available to her. She grabbed her Pokedex and scanned a few of the names of the Pokemon.

"Are any of these Pokemon good for beginner trainers to battle?"

"These Pokemon should all be good for beginner trainers to battle,", the Pokedex's robotic voice blared in response to Tranquil's question, "But, they can still beat inexperienced trainers if the trainer doesn't plan ahead."

"Well, thank you Pokedex."

Tranquil closed the Pokedex and shoved it into her pocket, then looking to Slodge sat on her shoulder.

"Let's go through the Route, Slodge!"

Slodge gooped (it's a word now I decided.) and was ready to take on whatever stood in front of them. Tranquil smiled and set off towards along the path that lead to Route 101.

Finally, after the long walk along the dirt and gravel through the overgrown forest, Tranquil had finally arrived at the open plains of Route 101. The plains spread out for miles, with hills and mountainous terrain in the middle of the plains. One of the mountains had a rushing waterfall that fueled the water in the river that went through the Route, and towards the other towns in the region. Then, the plains were interrupted by a few trees inhabited by birds making nests for their young. There were so many pockets of Pokemon across the Route. And, Tranquil was going to battle them all. And, hopefully catch one.

Tranquil unzipped her backpack and reached inside, grabbing a shrunken Pokeball. She brought it out of her backpack and tapped it lightly, the Pokeball expanding in size, and ready for catching. Tranquil let Slodge down from her shoulder and it stood by her side as they roamed over the grassy plans. Tranquil took glances at the environment around her, looking for any sight of a Pokemon. But, the tall grass made that task quite difficult, and so she looked to the skies for a Pokemon flying overhead. And, she soon found a flock gliding through the air. She brought out her Pokedex and scanned the rough-looking birds,

Spearow, The Tiny Bird Pokemon.

Spearow has a very loud cry that can be heard over half a mile away. If its high, keening cry is heard echoing all around, it is a sign that they are warning each other of danger.

"A Spearow, huh?", Tranquil thought as the birds flew past, and Tranquil decided this was her chance. She reached into the tall grass to grab Slodge, and the Pokemon stuck to her hand as she raised it above the tall grass.

"You see that flock of Spearow over there?", Tranquil said while pointing to the Spearow, "Well, they're going to be our first focus for a battle."

Slodge nodded and immediately spat a stream of water at the Spearow. The trail of water struck one of the Spearows in the wing, causing it to slow down and shake off the drenched wing. It then called out to the rest of its flock, which stopped in their tracks and immediately locked eyes with Tranquil.

"I think we better RUN!", Tranquil exclaimed as she ran through the tall grass as the angry flock rushed towards her. She tried to run as fast as she could but the flock of Spearow were gaining pace rapidly and preparing to strike Tranquil and Slodge. Slodge knew it had to do something about it and turned around despite Tranquil's grip holding it in place. It then spat a Water Gun at the Spearow, but all it did was enrage the flock even more than they already were. Slodge then looked to Tranquil, who was clearly panicking, and in her panic, randomly combed through her bag. She grabbed a few of her Pokeballs and threw them rapidly at the Spearow. Two Ultra Balls and a normal Pokeball were thrown towards Spearow. The normal Pokeball did very little, but the two Ultra Balls caught two of them in the air and caused them to drop to the ground.
