All the lonely people

IX.

Regulus knew he fucked up.
He knew what he did was wrong. He just didn't know how to fix it.
So the days turned into weeks.
And the weeks turned into months.
Now it's been three months since he's spoken to Cassidy.
Of course he saw her in class, in the great hall, in the courtyard, and around campus, but he never worked up the courage to speak to her.
Every time they met eyes she would look down at the floor and walk faster, she too was avoiding him.
Not just avoiding speaking to him, but avoiding looking at him as well.
She won't even look at him
She knows if she does she would break down. As much as she hates to admit it, she misses him greatly. She misses his laugh, his smile, the way he clings to every word she says, the way he's so attentive with her.
He misses her too.
But neither one of them will admit this, or do anything about it.
So they both suffer in silence.
Crying quietly in their beds at night, careful not to wake their roommates.
Regulus didn't talk much anymore, not even to barty.
Cassidy however, had befriended Jayden, a Gryffindor boy, who was a year older then she was.
Regulus didn't like Jayden, he knew he was an asshole, but he also knew he couldn't do anything to stop her.
Why would she listen to him anyways? After what he did he knew she hated him.
He didn't know if she told Jayden what he did. He had a feeling she did, whenever he saw Jayden he would give regulus a dirty look. So he assumed he must know.
Regulus tore himself apart everyday because of what he did.
He was also, in a way, happy, because she seemed happier now that he was out of her life, and had knew friends.
As much as it hurt him, he knew it was for the best and he did her a favor. He hated himself for hurting her feelings, but he didn't hate the fact that she was happy now. He just wished he could still have her, he wished that she could be friends with him, but that is never going to happen, he fucked up.
He wondered if she would ever forgive him, or rather, if he would ever forgive himself.
