When I was just a child, there was this old, old, really old lady that lived in an old house next to mine. Her name was Aurë Sunstone, Aurë means Sunshine in our language, and she was one of what we call The Old Ones.
Now you probably wonder, “What are the old ones?” Well, in the world I live in, or lived in, depending on when and who finds this text – maybe my world has come to an end, as she predicted – the old ones are a people who my kind and others come from.
We are not the same, I am a kind of elven and my people are called Druinnians and Dragonians. I’m a half breed, my mother was from a land named Druinar, and my father from Dragonia, both lands are on the great big island of “The Great Three”. It is actually three different lands, Dragonia, Druinar and Skirian.
My name is Erë-Nár, which means Steel-Fire. My father was a blacksmith in the Dragonian capital city Dracóna, and my mother is a stay-at-home-wife. And this is my story…
My father named me Erë since he wanted his son to be strong like the steel shaped in dragon fire, and until I was born that was the only name I had. My mother, who came from a people who had magical powers in their blood, could see that I would have strong powers of fire. Probably because her father had it, and combined with my Dragonian blood, that in time would lead to me having a dragon companion, as well as the fact that Dragonians also have a power with fire, she thought it would be a good idea to also give me the name Nár, which means Fire.
My father agreed and when I was brought to the Temple and the Priestess put me on the altar of white jade between the golden dragon statues arms and spoke the name I would have, the statue opened its eyes and the two symbols of my blood appeared on my neck; a purple eye of the Druinnian people and the green dragon eye of the Dragonian. Usually that is the end of the name ceremony, but since I am a half-blood the two symbols started to combine into one, and that is painful. When my parents left the temple the symbol on my neck had become a purple dragon eye.
This is not just Dragonian tradition, every country on the Great Three do this. In Druinar parents bring their new born to “The council of Nine” where the oldest member speak a prayer to Aeirénhód who is the goddess of heaven, the soul and of love, and to her younger sister mother earth. When the council member removes the hand from the baby a purple eye will have emerged. The parents tell the priestess or the priest where the symbol will be on the baby, and my parents wanted it to be on my neck.
I was only nine years old when I first met Aurë, she was picking Dragonbirths in the forest behind my house, the flowers had bloomed during the night and I could see how gently she kissed the golden flowers before putting them in the basket next to her.
I stayed hidden behind a big oak tree, afraid that she would chase me away if she saw me. Now maybe you wonder why I thought that. Well in this age, the fourth age of the world, also called “The Age of the Gods” people in Dragonia weren't very positive to us half-bloods, they didn't always say anything, but they didn't like us and sometimes people did chase me away while calling out names such as “half-blood”, “dragons-shame” and “dirt-born”.Though Aurë saw me and gave me a pleasant soft smile from her lips and eyes.
-“Why are you hiding little one?” She asked with a voice that would have made the dragon of music jealous.
Dragonians are dragon worshipers, the religion circles around The Great Golden Dragon Aikanáro who sits on the world and is the father of all the good, as well of peace and serenity, and his brother Arkinouth The Great Black Dragon who is the opposite to the golden one. There are a lot of dragon gods in the Dragonian religion, and in the nature. I told you earlier that my people came from the old ones, well, that's just half the truth; we also come from the holy Dragonkin, a people that disappeared mysteriously during the second age of the world, also called “The Old Age” but I will come back to that later, at this point in life I didn't know this.
