She seemed to perk up a bit as he carried her along. Gradually cheering up as it sank in that everything was ok and the world wasn't ending. He still wasn't about to put her down however, no matter how much she complained she was feeling better. In fact he was still carrying her when he stepped through the door of the Fairytail guild. He took in the lazy goings on inside, eyes scanning the room to fall on a particular table. Natsu and Happy were sitting together, watching the rest of their team going to get some drinks. Perfect.
He walked over with a determination that warned everyone not to get in his way. He nodded a quick hello to Natsu, but his attention was on the girl in his arms.
"I'm going to put you down now, ok Lucy?"
"O-ok"
He gently set her down on a chair next to their table, catching Natsu's attention.
"What's the matter?"
"Lucy's not feeling great, would you keep an eye on her for a moment? Lucy, I'm going to get you a cup of water ok?"
"...Please. My throats a little sore"
Alarmed at this new information and the fact she still seemed unreasonably warm, his mind went into overgear. It pushed him to move as images attacked him of Lucy being sick in bed and there being nothing he could do but helplessly watch her and- No! Now was not the time for blind panic! Lucy needed action! And water!
"I'll only be a second, keep an eye on her Natsu!"
He didn't wait for a response before he was away, focused on his new mission. He idly acknowledged Gray and Erza's greetings as he got closer. As he made his way to the bar, the warning bells in his mind got louder and louder. He had to request a glass of water over the booming thrumming going on in his head. He leaned slightly on the bar, starting to feel sick with the pressure being exerted on him. What was going on? He'd not felt such a sickly, ugly feeling spike through him before. What in the world was-
A shudder went through him. His magic warped and contorted under his skin, sending an uncomfortable shockwave rippling through his body. He keeled over the bar, drawing concern that was quickly directed elsewhere when he heard it.
There was a loud thump behind him and dread filled him, especially when he heard multiple yells and gasps spread throughout the guild. There was a rush of movement as he turned around. His eyes were drawn to one person and his heart plummeted then stopped. Lucy was on the ground, little eyes closed, not waking up despite the panicked din now happening around her. Mirajane jumping over the bar got him moving and he somehow got to Lucy before her. He slammed down onto his knees beside her, picking her up and pulling her away from the circling guild, trying to block out their concerned shouts. He shook her but she didn't wake up and his panic skyrocketed. Fear racked him, what was wrong? Was she sick? Had he not looked after her properly? Was this his fault? How could-
Porlyusica put her hand on his shoulder, no doubt trying to coax her from him, to see what was wrong. It was the smart thing to do, to let her see Lucy. Unfortunately for him, his head wasn't in charge at the moment.
He shot up, cuddling Lucy close as he glared at her. His back was raised and he was pretty certain that vile hissing noise was coming from him. He couldn't bring himself to care, he needed to protect Lucy, needed to keep her from further harm, he had to.
Unfortunately, this was a stalemate he was always going to lose. While he may have stunned the others with his animalistic response, Porlyusica had no time for his nonsense. With swift, practised movements he received a clack upside the head as Lucy was taken from him. A low snarl filled the air, but she ignored him, holding Lucy carefully in her arms.
