Chapter 17

Meade Manor was a buzz with activity. People came and went as they visited Brianna and Daniel. Fiona sat in the library going over the jobs that Matthew had coming up, sorting each into order, he would be working none stop for the next year with only one or two weeks break in between. She sat back and stretched as Matthew entered the room. "So, you have quite a lot of projects coming up. Are you sure that you want to do them all? You do realise that you will be busy for the next year, none stop!."

Matthew looked through the scripts on the table "I know. I need to work Fi. I need to keep busy, plus these are all great roles. Maybe for the work here in the UK, I can ask Brianna to work with me? that way she can still bring Daniel with her and I will know that they are safe."

"Hold your horses lover-boy, I know from a very good source that she has work for Marvel including the Loki tv show working alongside her mentor Douglas Noe. She will be doing a few projects with them first. I have managed to get Brianna as your makeup artist for the duke, the kingsman and discovery of witches and hopefully for the colour room as well? apparently your co-star Phoebe Dynevor has asked for her. So it looks like you might get your wish." A smile spread across his face that Fiona noticed. "I know you love her, just don't push things. Its best that you let her come to you. Offer to go riding with her or let her sleep in while you look after Daniel."

"I'm actually cooking a meal for her tonight, well for everyone. I was actually hoping that you could help me. I have quite a bit of prep to do and the kitchen staff have been given the day off apparently. Mrs Hodgson has left a full pantry." he said as he headed for the doors and held one open for her.

"Maybe we can have a rummage and look through some recipe books." 

"Fi. I love you." Matthew hugged her as they left the room and headed towards the Kitchen. Upon entering they found Mrs Hodgson sorting out the pantry. "Good morning Mrs Hodgson, will you and Mr Hodgson be joining us for dinner?."

"No dear. We have plans and will return later this evening. Now there is enough here for the thirty five people that you are cooking for. For both lunch and dinner." 

Matthew almost choked on his coffee. "Wait.......thirty five? who else is coming that.....it was only ten of us, less than an hour ago!."

Mrs Hodgson smiled as she grabbed her coat. "Mr Hiddleston and his family and a few friends are arriving soon. I took the call just before you came in."

Matthew and Fiona spent the next hour going through the different ingredients, when Matthew noticed Brianna stood in the doorway watching him. "Any idea's Miss Stars? seeing as I am now cooking for...."

"I don't mind what they have, but I was hoping that we could have a private dinner. Just the two of us? If that is okay?." she shrugged as she stepped into the room. "I want to help." Together they made a start, sorting everything for lunch and for the dinner. "Fiona and I can set up the dining room for this evening. And we can have lunch outside, how about a picnic?."

Matthew and Fiona looked at each other and then to Brianna. With smiles all round, the kitchen became a scene of laughter as they chopped, mixed and cooked everything for the picnic. Cindy and April had both looked in when they heard the laughter and then left them as they joined Charles who was walking about the house with Daniel in his arms. Ace and Julia greeted Tom and his family along with Chris, Elsa, Benedict, Sophie and.....

"Maya!." Matthew called out as he joined Brianna in greeting everyone on the back patio. "What are you doing here?."

Maya smiled and rushed over to Matthew and wrapped her arms around his neck as she kissed his cheek. "I bumped into Benedict and Tom. They said that they were coming here. I hope its okay, we haven't seen each other for over three weeks! I was afraid that you were avoiding me!". She kissed him again and then turned to Brianna. "I have to thank you for the invitation. Oh I can't wait to see your little boy. I brought a little outfit for him". she turned and ran off towards the car driven by Tom's assistant Naomi. Everyone watched Maya run to the car except Brianna who suddenly felt uncomfortable with having her there.
