Riley Marie Grainger loved her mum more than anything so when she was told by Tom that her mum was stabbed trying to save Jack Rimmer, she felt like her world collapsed and she couldn't breathe. She swore he was playing some joke only to realise he wasn't and that her mum truly was dead. The second Tom told her that Izzie was dead it meant she had lost both her parents not literally though because her dad was very much alive but just dead to her and her sisters.
Her sisters, Chlo and Mika, swore from a very young age that they would do anything and everything to keep Riley safe, from keeping her entertained in her room to drown out the sound of their parents arguing and slamming doors which would be followed by the sobs of their mum. The sobbing meant that Jimmy, their dad, had walked out.
Jimmy then walked out on them once more after that but stayed away. Riley knew that something was right when Chlo and Mika ended up sleeping in her bed that night and she didn't see her dad for the days following.
After her death, all that was left of Izzie Redpath was a photo with her, Riley, Chlo and Mika that Riley had placed at the front of the mantle piece.
