midnight rain
chapter seven, blood runs thicker than water.
waterloo road, series 3 episode 8"Why does Tom hate me?" Riley questioned her older sister as she sat next to Mika, leaning into her.
"What do you mean?" Mika asked while trying to keep the girl awake.
Mika laughed at her sister's dramatics, "He doesn't hate you."
"If he doesn't hate me then why is he making me go on this stupid trip?"
"What trip?" Chlo asked.
"That one that Mr Lawson organised for all the bad kids when I'm not even half as bad as what I used to be. You know the one for 'bad kids' so, me, Bolton, Paul and that lot," the girl reminded her.
"Oh," she nodded. "Don't go."
"He won't let me stay off because he was the one who put my name down," she complained once again, slowly getting off the girl's bed so she could get ready.
When they got to the school, Mika kissed Riley's forehead, "Good luck, looks like you're the only girl."
"Oh great," she sighed, giving Tom her best pleading look. "Please don't make me go. I promise I'll do all my work on time."
"You might have fun. Come on," Tom laughed at her, nudging her towards the bus.
Riley was the last on the bus, silently groaning when she realised she'd have to sit next to Bolton. "How are you the last one here when you got here first?" Paul asked her, turning to face her.
"Because I thought that To- Mr Clarkson would forget about me and let me stay here but that didn't work," she threw her head back and closed her eyes, trying to ignore Bolton and Paul.
"You didn't seriously think I wanted to spend half my week on Lawson's nature ramble, did ya? Especially with her, of all people."
Riley's eyes opened as she turned to Bolton, "And what on this planet makes you think I want to spend half of my week with any of you? Because I love to be the bearer of bad news, Smilie but I can assure you I don't want to be here any more than you do."

Riley didn't remember the drive to wherever they were because she had fallen asleep. "Riley," Bolton nudged her awake since she had been laid on his shoulder.
"What?" she rubbed her eyes and realised everyone was staring at her. "What have I done now?"
"You fell asleep on Bolton," Paul commented.
"No I didn't," she argued. "I fell asleep with my head resting on the headrest."
"Whatever helps you sleep at night," Paul smiled as she pushed him before getting off the bus.
