I've read this quote once , that Emily Jane Brontë once wrote , the one and only Emily , the one angry at the world .
"If all else perished, and he remained, I should still continue to be; and if all else remained, and he were annihilated, the universe would turn to a mighty stranger."
and so I think , is this truly how I feel about you , every minute whenever I blink,
You left the city , the one you were born into
The one your parents made you live in , until you're old and angry and ready to die .
You left without saying goodbye , and I sunk like a stone into the earth and was swallowed whole by the weight of what has happened, all I did was play the news in my head on repeat, like an old cassette in an old country movie scene.
I still go to the lake sometimes
Hang around under the trees
Hoping to hear your voice instead of The psithurism, the birds.
So I can skip a pebble, watch you do it too
Then the universe will turn into my friend again
And I promise I'll love you more than anyone could ever do .
