Esmeray's POV

That afternoon, Mother Nature seemed to have pitied me. The rain fell, heavy as my angry breaths had been. The sky was dark, the clouds so grey that no ray of the setting sun's light could pass through them. A gloomy atmosphere to many, a sanity option for me. I always loved rain, and the more of it that descended from the skies, the more at peace my soul was. When everyone would complain about its presence, I would celebrate. I'd dance in the rain, sing in the rain, go for a long run alongside the rain. Anything that would be classified as out-of-the-ordinary, really. That is why that afternoon, Sol didn't find me in my bedroom back in our cottage, but in the neighbouring forest by my favourite tree. I had been soaked to the bone, but I did not care.

"I'm not here to give out or anything, but I am here to give out. Why on Earth did you stop me from going at Zander?" Sol demanded as she was approaching me at a fast pace.

I scoffed, but when I looked up at her there had been no trace of amusement on my face. She stood above me, giving me her famous and silent 'well?' stare.

"Your anger got the best of you." I began. I was going to continue but she beat me to it.

"And it damn well should have!" she argued. "What does that prick think he's doing, trying to force you into being his Luna? And it's not like you, to stand by quietly, Esme, what the hell happened?" she continued her venting.

My hair was dripping with the rain; it looked like I just got out of the shower. Yet I refused to move an inch and continued to sit in the direct line of fire of the rain.

"As much as I wanted to argue back, I couldn't risk anyone's lives, Sol" I said sadly.

The rain continued to pour viciously around us, but it oddly didn't reach me or Sol anymore. I looked back up at my sister questioningly, only to spot the faint bubble that was surrounding us, caging us in its dry interior. Sol must've cast a shield spell, a protection against the rain in that case.

I smiled, more to myself than her. 'Overprotective older sisters' I thought. She sat down next to me on the grass, and I briefly thought back to the morning, when Theodore did the exact same thing on our walk. I wondered what Zander could be telling him at that very moment.

"I'm missing something, aren't I?" Sol asked, slightly calmed down then. "I know I am".

I sighed, and sincerely hoped that I had been simply paranoid.

"Remember Zander's emphasis on the word 'element'?" I asked her a question as a response to hers.

Sol looked to be in deep thought for a few seconds before it all seemed to have dawned on her. She looked at me in slight alarm. "He wouldn't. Would he?" she protested.

"That's the thing Sol, I know that he's very capable of doing such thing if he doesn't get what he wants." I explained. "We already lost Dad; we can't lose Mom too."

I added the last part upsettingly. I blinked hard to get rid of the tears that had started forming. 'I won't let that happen.' I promised myself.

"Do you think that Mom knows?" Sol queried.

"About the Elemental Sphere of Fire being in danger?" I asked. Sol nodded.

"That it is in danger she definitely knows. She has always known, why else would she keep doing business with Zander and his pack?" Both of us fell silent in agreement. "But that Zander wants to use it to his advantage to have me as his Luna, she might not know. And I fear how she would react to it." I concluded. I was in an arduous situation.

"I think we should still talk to her, Esme. I can't just stand by and do nothing while that thick fuck thinks he can own you." She reiterated.

I closed my eyes and leaned my head back against the tree behind me. I had desperately wished for the situation not to be so complex, but my wishes had not been granted.
