Bucky was silent.
Y/N was silent.

They were both sat at the bar in silence; not the comfortable kind. It was like a never ending cycle of pain for Bucky and conflict for Y/N. She had only been at the compound for a short time and the constant pushing of Bucky drove her insane. They both had a glass of whiskey in their hands, drinking it slowly.

"You ready to talk?" Bucky asked delicately.

Y/N laughed humourlessly, "You don't give up do you? No wonder Steve chose you as his best friend. You're both pathetic."

She knew that would hit him harshly, maybe even hard enough to get him to stop. The silence returned and for that she was grateful. It was just them in the compound everyone else was at the hospital or tracking down Hydra. Y/N walked out juts after being shown the video and Barnes followed her like a puppy.

"You are exhausting to be around. I haven't been here that long and I'm so sick of you trying to make me remember something that never happened-" she complained, keeping her sorrowful eyes on the amber filled glass.

"I need you to remember because I can't loose you again, not after last time," Bucky raised his voice slightly.

She looked into his eyes, "I am not who you think I am! I am not the girl from Hydra who you took care of and loved."

Bucky stared at Y/N, his voice was barely a whisper, "I never told anyone that I loved her. Only she knew."

Before Y/N could respond, her phone rang on the bar: Pierce. Without hesitation she answered the phone.

"Hello."

"Why haven't you dealt with Romanoff? She is lying in a bed defenceless-"

"I'm not alone, maybe we can talk later."

Pierce yelled from the other side of the phone, "Don't hang up on me. Make them leave."

Y/N placed a hand to the phone and looked up to Bucky pleadingly, "Can you leave the room please?"

Bucky eyed her suspiciously. He did not move from his spot and he could hear the anger in the voice on the other side of the phone.

"No." He replied firmly, crossing his arms over his chest.

Y/N mouthed 'please' with worried eyes, flinching at the sound of Pierce down the phone. Bucky refused to move.

"Sir, I need to remove the person myself, I'll put you on hold," Y/N whispered down the phone completely forgetting that Bucky had enhanced hearing. She placed her phone on the bar face down and walked up to Bucky.

"That is a very important call-"

"You're scared of him," Bucky interrupted, "Hang up the phone."

"No I am not scared of him. I have more power than them," she argued, mostly trying to convince herself.

"Hang up the phone. Now." Bucky commanded, keeping his voice calm.

"You know what I'll just leave," Y/N went to grab her phone but Bucky grabbed her wrist before she could make it to the bar. She pulled against his grip but failed significantly.

"Get off me," she yelled as he dragged her out of the room and into the nearest room he could lock: the storage cupboard.

Once the door was locked he let go and stood in-front of the door. The light from the hallway peaked through the gaps of the door, glowing against Bucky's frame.

"Bucky move," she tried to push him out the way but it was as successful as pushing a wall. The air was suffocating.

Bucky moved closer to Y/N, "I know you remember us. I remember everything about you, the way you are at hiding your feelings."
