The thumps of his heart was too loud, louder than the crowds cheering for him as he walked up the stage to receive his award.

Kim Seungmin, the year's valedictorian.

From where he was standing to give his speech, Seungmin could see how his younger friend kept throwing thumbs up and how the wide grin on his face did not dissipate at all — Jeongin was proud, very much so and it almost made him teared up as he relayed his words.

As soon as the ceremony ended, he was crushed in a hug from Jeongin who was shrieking beside his ear on how happy and proud he was over and over again.

"Have mercy on my lungs, Yang Jeongin!" contrary to his supposed complaint, Seungmin wholeheartedly laughed, feeling all light and elated, as he wrapped his arms around the other and jumped in circles together.

Right when they broke the hug, slightly breathless, Jeongin abruptly turned Seungmin around to face the opposite direction with his eyes disappearing from grinning too widely.

Seungmin knew his parents were already in the car, letting him to be with his friends for a while, so he was aware of exactly who the person was that made Jeongin ditch him with an overjoyed 'use protection!' as he skipped away to meet back with his own family.

"Hi."

Just from the simple, gentle greeting and soft, tender smile of Minho made Seungmin's tear welled up and he let out a scoff, "You didn't hear my speech."

Minho hummed and stepped closer, "Can you recite them once again then? Just for me?"

"No, it's fucking embarrassing," sniffed Seungmin and pushed away all his rationality before throwing himself on the older and wrapping his arms around Minho's torso.

He was careful not to accidentally hurt the older by his hat that was tucked in between them.

Chuckling at the younger, Minho then caged him by his shoulders, holding their bodies close to each other as the hat allowed, "Language, mister everything is possible if you see it possible valedictorian."

That pulled a whine from Seungmin and he buried his face into Minho's shoulder after lightly punching his back when the older laughed.

"That little brat snitched, didn't he?"

"This time, Innie behaved," Minho grinned. "Your mom is getting better at recording videos though."

Seungmin pulled away from the hug and squinted his eyes as he fixed his robe but before he could comment on that, Minho rested his hand on top of the younger's head and lightly, gently, rubbed it with his thumb.

The unexpected affectionate gesture, the wide, fond smile of the older and the tender look in his eyes made Seungmin's chest warm. He thought maybe his face and ears were red too but that did not matter right now because he felt loved.

Minho was proud of him.

And Seungmin did not care if he looked ridiculous now, with tear stained cheeks and little whimpers trying not to escape from his bitten lips.

"I hate you," he sniffed and wiped the tears with the back of his hand but Minho stopped him and wiped his cheeks with his sleeve.

"I hate you."

Seungmin glanced at the retreating hand of Minho and saw the watch lit up again, for the fifth time, indicating a new message.

"I'll pick you up at five, hmm?" Minho held his hand and gave it a squeeze.

Nodding, Seungmin offered a smile and squeezed back, "Don't be too hard on your employees, Mr. Chairman."

"Don't be too bratty to your parents, Mr. Valedictorian," Minho huffed out a laugh when the younger rolled his eyes. He lifted the hand in his and placed a peck to the inside of his wrist where Seungmin's pulse was, uncaring if people would see. "I'll see you soon, love."
