You gently untangled yourself from Alan's sleeping body, giving him a little forehead kiss before tiptoeing downstairs. Today was his birthday, and you were determined to make it special. You started off by making his favourite breakfast, waffles with blueberry sauce. You gathered and mixed the ingredients for the sauce and left it to simmer in the stove, moving on to prepare the batter for the waffles. Before long the delicious aroma of your homemade breakfast wafted through your house. You placed the food on a floral tray along with orange juice and coffee, topping it off with a funny birthday card you found while getting groceries. When you were satisfied with your work, you picked up the tray and carried it upstairs.
Placing the tray on the nightstand, you walked over to Alan, who was still soundly asleep. You giggled at how cute he looked, not wanting to wake him but having to, as you didn't want him to miss his birthday over sleep. You started sloppily kissing his face, while whispering comically loud in his ear.
"Wakey wakey sleepyhead!!! Today is an important day!" You urged.
"Noooo.. y/n! Sleeeeeep..." he murmured, barely conscious.
After what seemed like endless urging, you finally got Alan sat up on the bed.
"Silly silly daddy, always such a grouch in the morning," you pouted, "I made your favourite breakfast!
You placed the breakfast tray onto his lap, watching his eyes light up.
"Thank you darling," he said gratefully. "you even got me a card!"
"Of course I did, happy birthday Alan!" you muttered sweetly, leaning in to give him a kiss.
You sat on the edge of the bed and began cutting up the waffles and placing the pieces in his mouth, giggling when you got some jam on the side of his mouth.
"That's not funny!" Alan protested, smiling nonetheless because of how endearing you looked.
Breakfast was finished in no time, and since none of you had any work to do, you stayed on the bed, cuddling.
