With a loud scream, I jolted upright and found myself wrapped tightly in my sheets, lying on the floor of my bedroom. Taking a deep breath, I tried to calm my erratic breathing whilst repeating in my head “it was just a dream”.

After I was calm, I got up from the floor and just happened to glance at my alarm clock “Oh crap!” I was going to be late for the first day of school.

Throwing on my only set of clothes and grabbing my bag, I rushed out the door of my crappy little apartment not even bothering to stop in the kitchen for breakfast, as I knew there was no food.

You see, I hadn’t yet received my next paycheck from work, no money = no food, I definitely learnt that the hard way. I lived at the every edge of town backing onto the woods and the school as on the complete opposite side. It was a 20-minute to walk and at least a 10-minute run.

“Running it is then” I said checking my watch for the third time, hoping the hands would turn back half an hour.
