"What is his problem?" I shouted, the next morning.
"Are we still on that?" Maddison said, her mouth full with cornflakes.
"I just feel so guilty!" I started pacing around the kitchen. "Which is ridiculous because this situation is completely his fault. I just know Tanya will hate me when she finds out."
"He'll explain to her, surely." Connie said. "You didn't know, so there was nothing you could do about it."
"I somehow get the feeling that he's not gonna tell her the whole truth." I grumbled.
"There's nothing you can do about that."
"Hmm." I groaned, flicking the switch on the kettle.
I checked my phone, which I had left on the kitchen counter. 2 missed calls and 7 text messages. I checked the missed calls; they were both from Colton. The text messages were also from Colton, though most of them were indecipherable:
Havr yio go homw?
Naf
Nav
Nag
Sorru
Snswey
The seventh message was one from him from this morning:
Sorry for the drunken messages, I hope you got home safely. Also sorry about what a bastard I've been. Please let me know that you're okay? I know we've had our differences but I don't want you to hate me. Colt x.
"Well it's too bad I do." I said out loud by mistake.
"You do what?" Connie asked. I handed her my phone. "Oh." She said, handing the phone over to Maddison who didn't say anything as she handed it back to me.
"Do I reply?" I asked.
"Do you want to reply?" Maddison said.
"I don't know. He asked me to let him know that I'm okay, so maybe I should."
"Tell him you got home okay but leave it there." Connie suggested.
I hit the reply button and typed out my message.
I got home okay thanks.
I hit send.
The weather was surprisingly summery; I had decided to wear a crop top with leggings for the first time since last year.
Colton replied almost immediately.
I take it you're still angry with me? X
I didn't reply. Another message pinged through.
Meet me today please? So we can talk. I understand if you don't want me in your life but at least let me try to sort things out so you don't hate me forever. X
I growled at the screen, but proceeded to hit the reply button for reasons I did not know.
Where?
Send.
The main entrance to Hyde park, we could walk for a bit? X
When?
Half 12. X
Okay.
